«©NCSX» Brand new and factory boxed PC-Engine Turbo Stick for the PC-Engine which was NEC's first and last joystick controller for their own console. NCS recalls the sentiment in Japan back in the day when joypads were looked upon more favorably than clunky joysticks which required a lap in addition to two hands. The Turbo Stick originally retailed for JPY6800 which we considered too high given the market situation in 1988. The stick looks like a plastic toy but it's comfortable to grasp and has a turbo-fire function which can be adjusted by sliding the buttons located on the upper right corner of the joystick.

Product Condition
   NCS' remaining inventory is brand new and factory boxed in the original cardboard container with Styrofoam retainer within. The condition of the packaging is in good structural shape but please note that there are slight signs of wear and weathering caused by decades of storage. The joysticks inside are however in brand new and never-used condition. Even though they're over 20 years old at this point, the joystick and the plastic packaging are still fresh and probably eternal. PVC/ABS never dies. Please note however that the tape which NEC used on the sides of the box has yellowed, deteriorated, and disintegrated.

NEWS General Updates

Real Arcade Pro.EX RS-1    We'll know by tomorrow morning if any of our Japanese vendors were able to order the Radiant Silvergun rendition of the Hori Real Arcade Pro.EX joystick before the madness of the holiday week took over everything. If we are able to confirm quantity, we'll open up reservations for the joystick on Tuesday's website update.

Week's Outlook    There's nothing new for consoles being released in Japan this week but we're looking forward to PS3 Arcana Heart 3 which is on schedule to debut on consoles next week. Please note that no new releases are being released stateside this week either.

Slow News Week    Since there's a holiday going on in Japan this week and nothing's being released, we're going to populate this week's NCS news updates with material from some of the other sites that we operate. For today, we look at an exhibition of melted toys by Japanese artists Three Studio. The toy figures were melted together and then formed into PVC sculptures.

   We have a soft spot in our hearts for the original NeoGeo AES controller. Sure, it's not the best nor the snappiest joystick we've ever manhandled but there's a certain design aesthetic to the controller that still appeals to our Neo Geo lovin' souls. Exar probably knows our kind so they're showing love to SNK's Neo Geo joystick once more with a new production that ships this week for the Playstation 3. The four main buttons (Square, X, Triangle, O) are arranged in a diagonal row on the left side of the controller and the Dual Shock 3's trigger buttons are mapped to two little sliver-buttons.

The next hardware rehash is a "20th Anniversary" version of the classic Neo Geo joystick but it's unclear what changes are built into the stick since no photos have been released yet. The color will probably be changed and maybe there'll be a turbo-fire function integrated into the buttons.
Sight unseen then, Japanese vendors and NCS are accepting preorders for the Neo Geo Stick 2+ which is scheduled to ship on September 30, 2010 which is delayed from the original date of May 27, 2010. «©NCSX» Brand new and factory packaged Imagineer Arcade Stick for the Super Famicom, Mega Drive, Neo Geo, Neo Geo CD, and PC-Engine. How does Imagineer's joystick play well with so many consoles? By using a universal input port and including the necessary cables for all of the supported consoles. The cables measure 2.4m or 7.87' each and they're all bagged up and twist-tied in factory sealed condition. The joystick features turbo-fire for all six face buttons and a slow-motion function may be toggled by pressing the button labeled "SLOW" which is located to the right of the turbo switches. The controller is solidly built with non-creaky appeal and the joystick is the non-clicky kind.

Steady your gaze at the Atari Joystick Gum Tin which is shaped like the original Atari 2600 joystick which pops open to reveal a gang of fruit flavored gum. The stick on top of the tin is movable thanks to the rubbery base upon which it sits but the button is non-functional and won't depress no matter how hard you thumb it. The base of the joystick measures 2.50 x 2.375" in area and the hollow yet sturdy stick rises 2.125" above the base.
The ingredients in the gum include sugar, lemon flavor, strawberry flavor, and peppermint flavor. Does the gum taste good? No, since the artificial flavors don't taste like the actual flavors they're trying to simulate. All preorders have shipped yesterday and new orders are welcome.
