As far as gingers go, Mitsuru Kirijou of Persona 3 fame is one of the more exotic creatures this side of Nihon. There are exactly zero ethnic Japanese folk who possess the recessive gene that engenders red hair but there she is. Maybe she's Ainu. Throw in a pair of blood red pupils and Mitsuru is almost otherworldly except she's just your average girl with a penchant for slaying demons...
Kotobukiya's Mitsuru Kirijou figure from last year was one of our best selling toys next to the Kinu Nishimura Mai Shiranui figure and CGC Poison. It's the kind of figure that stokes the fan base and forces buyers to flick open their wallets. Similar to Koyori and KOS-MOS, you can never have enough Mitsuru so Alter announces a new 1/8 scale PVC figure which features the redheaded heroine in fixed pose grandeur. The new Mitsuru measures 21cm tall or 8.26" tall and ships with extra parts so her pose can be changed somewhat.
Preorders for the Japanese territory Mitsuru Kirijou figure are welcome to ship in mid-late June 2008 at JPY7000 or US$68.90 from NCS. A domestic version of the toy distributed by Diamond Comics may also be available in September 2008 at US$58.90 from NCS but we're currently only accepting preorders for the Japanese version.

Dairantou Smash Bros X - Update
Our initial shipments of Smash Bros X are scheduled to arrive on Thursday of this week. We were able to obtain more copies than we originally expected after receiving the bad news from suppliers on Sunday night. We'll notify customers by email today if your order is shipping on Thursday. The remainder of our Smash Bros X shipments are scheduled to arrive no later than Wednesday or Thursday of next week and we'll be able to fill all remaining preorders and any new orders at that time.
So, was there really a "shortage"? Some of our suppliers in Hong Kong won't be getting any copies until this weekend which makes it more of a delay than an actual shortage. We also note that most of our Japanese vendors will receive the bulk of their supplies on February 2 and February 4 which is a few days later than the official street date. We'll update further if anything changes but everything looks good for next week.
In related news, agouger vendor in Japan noticed our Smash Bros update yesterday and asked if we were interested in paying JPY8500 per copy for their Smash Bros supply. They informed us that they would be "very pleased to supply you." Our usual suppliers have kept their prices at regular levels so we'll hold off on buying any Smash Bros at ¥8500.
