PSP Macross Ultimate Frontier - New Import, In Stock

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Last year's Macross Ace Frontier was a pleasant surprise since Macross games are generally hit or miss. Bandai built the game on the PSP Gundam Battle engine which is capable code so they'd have to really botch the development to make MAF a bad game. To capitalize on their previous success, Bandai's releasing another chapter on the PSP dubbed Macross Ultimate Frontier which ships in Japan this week. Not much has changed in the play mechanics (this is a good thing) but Bandai has included new features and tweaks that improve the handling and experience of piloting a Valkyrie. The versatile game engine is capable of handling a player's stream of control pad tugs, pushes, and button slaps so that the action onscreen never hiccups or bogs down. It's a thing of beauty. Some of the Macross series and attendant mecha featured in the game are as follows:

» SDF Macross: Do You Remember Love?
» SDF Macross Plus
» SDF Macross 7
» SDF Macross Dynamite 7
» SDF Macross Zero
» SDF Macross Frontier

The game features over 120 missions and 100 types of Valkyries to pilot. A sizable selection of BGM (over 20 new tracks) provides energetic music including a new theme song from fictional Macross 7 band "Fire Bomber."

PSP Minna no Sukkiri - New Import, In Stock

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Mini-game collections were the rage a few years ago but the fervor has died down for the most part. When sales for mini-game collections slowed to a crawl in 2007, publishers retrenched from the genre and focused on more promising developments. Sony's new Minna no Sukkiri (Everybody's Revitalizing or Refreshing) attempts a mini revival with a selection of 12 mini-games from developer Clap Hanz that are well designed and enjoyable. Some of the challenges include:

» Homerun - Watch the orange-tinted pitcher like a hawk and press the "Triangle" button to smack homeruns or press the "Circle" button to hit red circular targets that are plastered across the outfield.
» Karate - We thought Mortal Kombat had been resurrected but it's just a highly animated warrior who punches and performs spin-kicks not at adversaries but on blocks of ice and innocent immobile objects.
» Pie Throwing - Hurl pies of different colors at assorted average citizens who pop out of windows to get their just desserts.
» Tractor - Overzealous farmer uses a tractor to destroy all opposition.
» Book - Make like a librarian and use one or two virtual hands to arrange disheveled volumes of manga in numerical order on a wooden shelf. When books are in sequential order, they can be maneuvered en masse.
» Boxing - Two pugilists face off in a brutal contest of power-punches.
» Race - Motor down the highway and overtake the other cars. Boosters allow your vehicle to speed up so much that it looks like a road meteor.

X360 X-Edge Dash - New Import, In Stock

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Comic book crossovers are special because they're rare and (usually) once in a lifetime events. We're still waiting for Donald Duck Meets Spiderman and Doc Savage but maybe in our next lifetime. Video game crossovers are doubly special since they unite characters that would never otherwise be seen in the same gaming universe. X Edge (Cross Edge) is the result of a collaboration between five publishers - Capcom, Namco Bandai, Idea Factory, Gust, and Nippon Ichi. Characters from properties published by all five companies will be joined by original cast members designed for the game. Familiar faces from the gaming fold include Marie the Atelier, Morrigan, Demitri, and Felicia from Vampire, Etna and her Prinnies of Disgaea fame, and Aurica, Misha, and Shurelia from Ar Tonelico. The cast of Spectral Souls is also in attendance to round out the bustling crowd of characters.

X-Edge was originally released on the Playstation 3 in September 2008 and publisher Compile Heart showers the game on Japanese Xbox 360 owners this week. X-Edge Dash includes a new Colosseum Mode along with new in-game events, new character skills, and downloadable content from the Xbox Live network.

PSP Shadow of Memories - New Import, In Stock

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Taking place in a melancholy European city named Lebensbaum, Shadow of Memories' protagonist Eike Kusch gets himself killed early in the adventure but thanks to the wonders of time travel, he continues to walk the earth. A creature who calls itself "Homunculus" has given Eike a device dubbed "Digi-Pad" which grants Eike the gift of time travel. Once back amongst the living, his goal is to seek clues and NPC interaction to stop his own destruction. For example, in one sequence in the first chapter, Eike has to travel 30 minutes back in time to prevent an act of arson at a local tavern.

Eike rides the wave through four time periods, from the present day to the 1500s when alchemy was fair sport for medieval chemists. Along the way, problems must be solved, friends saved, and missions completed thanks to the use of Eike's time jumping capabilities. Successfully navigating all obstacles and a few backward stints in time leads to a happily ever after endgame.

Shadow of Memories
was originally released on the PS2 in 2001 and NCS still holds original inventory of the game in our warehouse. The new PSP conversion is a no-frills 1:1 port of the original PS2 release so players who've already completed the adventure might not be motivated to pick up the portable port. New fans will however find a compelling and engaging experience that posits the theme of travel travel and the ramifications of one's actions.

PS3 Shin Sangoku Musou MULTI RAID Special - New, In Stock

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Heroes from the SSM games are generally bound by gravity to the ground and can't gain much air when jumping. This dynamic changes in Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid where warriors gain the ability to go aerial and perform outlandish attacks while aloft. Weapons may be upgraded with elemental-power through the use of gems to bolster a hero's attack.

The standard game starts inside a town where the stalls of merchants and peddlers ring the area's perimeter. To get started in the hacking and slashing action, guide your character towards the "job post" to the north where available missions are listed along with the value of each task. Upon entering the battlefield, enemy troops filter in and begin attacking. The enemy AI is fairly aggressive and troops will attack in concert for a somewhat challenging game. Despite the improved AI however, the enemy grunts are cannon fodder and legions of them will fall by the wayside on the hero's path to the mid-level and end-level bosses. The first level boss is a mace-wielding maniac who has the advantage of a lengthy weapon.

PS3 Trinity Universe - New Import, In Stock

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» The worlds of Disgaea and Atelier Viorate clash in Nippon Ichi's Trinity Universe which plies the standard RPG trade. TU is a cross-over title in more ways than one - there's the character cross-over but the game also introduces full-blown 3D encounters to the Disgaea and Atelier universes. Flonne, Etna, Viorate, and the Prinnies are rendered with detailed models to give them girth and depth. The game also contains a decent amount of non-interactive conversation sequences where the characters are flat 2D illustrations. That's where the AAA System (Active Animation Adventure) comes into play where a whole host of expressions and facial tics allow the characters to appear lifelike and realistic.

Battles take place on a 3D arena where player characters stand on one side whilst enemies stand on the other. Attacks may be performed singly by one champion or collaboratively where multiple characters combine their attacks in dizzying theatrics filled with magic blasts, weapons slashing, and ground shaking blows.
