Space Invaders Headphones - Import Preorder

Taito loves Space Invaders. The game debuted in 1978 and the company has been minting ducats off the back of the franchise for thirty years. The latest product in Taito's ongoing Space Invaders 30th Anniversary celebration is headphones. Nothing clever or revolutionary. Just headphones. The kind you plop on top of your head to listen to Bowie, Broadus, or Black.

Two styles are on offer - black headphones with a single white-pixel Invader design or pink headphones decorated with multiple black invaders. We're partial to the black headphones but that's just us. Preorders are welcome to ship in late October 2008 at US$19.90 each.

Ghost Radar - Import Preorder

Confession time: No one at NCS has ever seen a ghost. No one. Well, that's not entirely true. Clyde, Inky, Blinky, and Pinky are ghosts even though they only exist in one of our coin-op cabs. In any case, we're talking about real ghosts. The kind that haunt and make wailing sounds. According to Taito, it's possible to locate ghosts by using a little battery-operated gadget called the Ghost Radar.

The so-called "radar" appears to be a wonky plastic doodad that couldn't possibly detect ectoplasm or the presence of a spectral visitor but don't let that deter you. Taito and NCS are counting on your gullibility to make bank. Preorders ship in October.

DS-Pico Sanrio Party He Ikou - Import Preorder

Characters from key Sanrio properties such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Keroppi, and Badtz Maruu serve as participants in the upcoming Sanrio Party He Ikou which features 24 educational mini-games. Sega is targeting the software at young children to help them with their cognitive development. That doesn't mean that adults can't enjoy the simple exercises also - for example, there's a touch-pen ironing game where you manipulate a steam iron on a wrinkly shirt. What adult wouldn't enjoy virtual menial labor? Other diversions include a matching game and one where players look for certain characters in a little burg.
Preorders are welcome to ship on August 7, 2008 at JPY4800 or US$46.90 from NCS. Jan Code: 4995857080236

Afrika - Import Preorder

It costs about US$5000 to go on a safari in Africa and check out how the animals live in the wild. By going there, you'll experience nature in all of its raw primal glory where lions chase zebras and elephants trudge around with steadfast determination. Then there are the cheetahs that hang out in the trees while waiting for the sun to stop beating down on their backs. A safari is a sizable investment in both time and resources. Not everyone can go out like that. For the next best thing to being there, Sony presents Afrika which is basically a safari simulator. Drive out on a jeep or take to the air in a hot-air balloon to view the mighty expanse of Africa and all of its furry denizens. Preorders ship on August 28, 2008.

Ikkitousen: Eloquent Fist Regular Edition - Import Preorder

The girls of Ikkitousen are back in a 2D punch 'n kick action game that's somewhat reminiscent of the coin-operated Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon game. Rather than releasing a barebones side scrolling brawler, Marvelous is going beyond the call of duty and will include a sizable amount of animated content in the game which chronicles the story of the Ikkitousen fighters. Eloquent Fist also features a fair amount of fan service in the form of wobbling boobs that shudder, fragile clothing that shatters, and more Kanu Unchou than you can shake a stick at.
NCS started preorders for the limited edition of the game yesterday but reservations for the regular edition are welcome today. Pricing is set at JPY4800 or US$48.90 from NCS.
