«©NCSX» A few years ago when we were still dabbling in Zippo lighters, NCS bought USA versions in bulk for under $15 each. Some were as low as $5. Imagine our bewilderment back in 1998 when we received a preorder offer from a Japanese vendor for the Beatmania 3rd Mix Zippo. Cost to us? A lofty $60. For a lighter. Sure, the Beatmania lighter was limited to only 500 pieces but it was a Zippo and we normally paid a quarter of that asking price. The Beatmania Zippo was our introduction to Japanese Zippos and over the years, we've imported even pricier models featuring Transformers, Lupin, Final Fantasy, Sakura Taisen, and many more.

NCS opens up preorders for yet another limited edition Zippo today and this one's a doozy. The price is pretty high but that's because the lighter is limited to sale only on a Banpresto website for a limited time between October 23 to November 6. Add in the yen/dollar exchange rate, shipping charges from Japan, and vendor handling costs and we have severe price inflation on our hands. We had to get them for our own collection (the Sega historical vault) however and we're offering them for general preorder as well starting today.

The Mega-Drive Zippo looks like a perfect recreation of Sega's 16-bit console complete with power button, reset button, and the cosmetic ridges on the left of the console. The only giveaway that this is a Zippo is the little hinge on the side which allows the top to be popped over so you can light up a cigarette, ignite a firecracker, or illuminate the darkness with a handheld torch. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late December 2009 and if we get it in time, the Mega Drive Zippo might be the perfect gift for that special someone in your life who still plays Mega-Drive games. The Zippo's Saturn facade includes the power button, eject, and reset buttons along with the cartridge port on top and snazzy Sega Saturn lettering. «©NCSX» New and factory boxed Fighter Stick MD for the Sega Genesis and Mega-Drive. The stick measures 7 5/8 x 6 1/4 x 1 1/8" in area and features auto-fire, turbo-fire, and slow-motion functions. When wagging the lollipop style joystick from left to right and all around, there is silence from the stick. There are no clicky micro-switches to listen to.

NCS' remaining inventory is brand new and factory boxed. The condition of the cardboard boxes is very good and still shine when tilted to and fro beneath the loving rays of the sun.

«©NCSX» New and factory sealed copy of Lethal Enforcers II: The Western for the Japanese Mega-CD which was published by Konami in 1994. Once upon a time in a land called America, the everyday lexicon included words such as "saloon," "sheriff," "varmints," "stagecoach," and "hoss." Travel back to that era of American history and take the role of a sheriff who keeps the peace in a small Western town. The first stage is dubbed, "The Bank Robbery" where a gang of varmints are holed up inside a bank with innocent hostages. Your job is to shoot each bank robber as he appears before he gets a bead on you. Watch out for innocents who also jump up in front of windows (for no particular reason) and avoid shooting them down. Endure for five stages to reach the end game.

MegaDrive StormLord Cartridge - Clearance

An English company known as Hewson published a bunch of Commodore 64 games that were either shooters or platformers a couple of decades ago. We recall titles such as Uridium, Cybernoid, Deliverance, and of course StormLord. The game was eventually ported over to the Megadrive in 1992 and to the Amiga computer in 1993.

The year 2008 represents the 16th anniversary since NCS took initial delivery of StormLord for the MegaDrive. Perhaps it's a little sad that the game is still in stock but we're rectifying the situation today. StormLord is a platform action game where players take control of a grizzly Viking who's been charged with the task of liberating fairies from circular capsules. Along the way, an army of enemies seek to stop the Viking's progress.

Mega-Drive Granada X Cartridge - Clearance Sale

Once upon a time when the Mega-Drive and Sega Genesis were the gaming consoles of choice, a veritable flood of shooters were released to satisfy the yearning of shmup fans the world over. Memorable games included Gaiares, SWIV, M.U.S.H.A., Sol-Deace, and the ever lovin' Gunstar Heroes from Treasure. Amongst the glut of releases, Granada X got lost in the shuffle. Maybe that's why sales back then weren't as great as Japanese vendors and American importers had hoped.

In Granada X, players control a tank which roams levels and destroys anything that moves. Think of it as mindless fun for trigger-happy gamers with an appetite for explosions and wholesale carnage. Eighteen years after Granada X first hit store shelves in Japan, NCS digs our inventory out for a sale. We could sit on them for another decade but in the spirit of SOTD, we'll try to sell a couple this year and shuffle them out again on an annual basis.
