«©NCSX» Warring States are ruining the simple life for peasants and court eaters alike when massive armies raze the countryside with their war mongering. As skirmishes erupt in local areas and allies are drawn into the fray, the battles only get bigger as more and more contingents of troops join the war. At the outset of the game, players guide a single general into battle who commands a powerful cavalry against a larger force but new alliances may be formed directly on the battlefield. While some alliances are mutually beneficial, others are more of a consequence of circumstance to contain opposing forces.

   As the balance of power shifts from battle to battle, new situations and missions pop up that require handling. As mentioned earlier, the game starts with a single general but as allies are met and/or conquered, control over the new generals and leaders is also granted to the gamer for direct guidance of pools of soldiers, archers, cavalry, and even an occasional temporary force of carpenters. From a small force of soldiers on a local battlefield, the game eventually features massive marshaling of armies against other massive armies for chaotic battles on massive battlefields. The end goal is the domination of all other forces and houses to unite the entirety of Japan under a single crest.

«©NCSX» Handling a Densha de Go! class passenger train ain't easy but amateurs may find piloting a single train unit much easier. Tetsu-One grants control of a locomotive engine car to the player and challenges him to a race.

   Upon starting the competition, trains rumble out and steadily gain speed. Once peak velocity is attained, the landscape hurtles past with exhilarating realism and motion. At this juncture, you'll have to guide your train by banking and matching the curve of the track. Take a swerve too fast without compensating for the bend and you'll topple over. Expert players may be able to balance the car on one side without toppling but running off of the track seems to be a common occurrence. Thankfully, it's a simple task to groove back onto the rails and continue on your way. Competing trains race ahead and alongside you on parallel tracks which makes for thrilling bumps and chases.

   In the two-player mode, warning arrows run down the side of your viewing screen and flash when trains are nearby. NCS didn't expect much out of Tetsu when we first viewed vendor demos but the game plays very well and the racing execution runs surprisingly sweet.

 «©NCSX» Minamoto Yoshitsune only lived for 30 years (1159-1189) but left behind a legacy of awe-inspiring military victories, breathtaking vengeance, and tragic betrayal. Despite serving his brother Yoritomo (who would eventually become Shogun of Japan) in eradicating the Taira clan in a mighty sea battle, Yoshitsune was forced to commit suicide by a growing enmity between siblings. The rift was fostered by the slanderous tongue of Yoshitsune’s rival, Kajiwara Kagetoki.
 
    Mythology gives Yoshitsune the honor of being trained in the way of the sword and all martial arts by Sojobo, the King of the Ten-gu demons. The PS2 game follows the military campaigns of Yoshitsune and gives the player control of the legendary warrior as well as a contingent of generals who follow commands with fastidious dedication. A good portion of the game revolves around brutal hack 'n slash action where entire battlefields are thrashed through while the other portion requires a sharp tactical mind to marshal forces into defensive or offensive positions to defeat opposing armies.
 
    Please note: The Asian version of Yoshitsune Eiyuuden includes a Japanese game DVD and a Japanese/Chinese/English game manual. The game is playable on Japanese, Asian, and Korean PS2 consoles.

 Xenosaga Episode II Playable Demo
    Explore the planet called 2nd Miltia and discover the reasons behind the Miltian Conflict which led to the storyline in Xenosaga Episode I. Revel in the stunningly rendered world of Miltia and preview the new battle system. All in all, the demo gives a good taste of the gaming experience and battle system to be found in Episode II which ships on June 24, 2004.
 
 Xenopittan
    A variant of the game Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan where a column of tiles on the left-side of the screen are placed in a staging area located at the center of the screen. Played like Scrabble, tiles are taken from the tile reservoir and set into sensible arrangements alongside the tiles in the play area. Complete letter sets and phrases within a set amount of time and progress to the next puzzle challenge. In keeping in the Xenosaga vein, keywords and graphics from the Xenosaga game comprise the Pittan puzzles, which are then added to the Encyclopedia upon successful completion.
 
 XenoComi
    An interactive adventure where the characters Chaos, Jr., KOS-MOS, M.O.M.O, Shion, and Ziggy provide assistance and/or exploratory skills in various assignments. As the story goes, a hacker has penetrated the Durandal mainframe and Elsa's systems are knocked out. KOS-MOS subsequently goes on a rampage and the crew swings into action to find the hacker and set things back to normal. A graphics section in this portion of Xenosaga Freaks may be unlocked by completing all of the assignments given to the six characters as well as a series of quizzes. In the character select screen of XenoComi, there's a seventh slot which a "?????" over it, which is apparently another character that factors in the overall storyline.
 
 Xenosaga Encyclopedia
    Essentially an upgraded version of the UMN keyword database, the encyclopedia includes images, cinemas, voice samples and an encompassing keyword system where new words are added to the reams of data based on the player's progress in the demo of Xenosaga Episode 2, Xenopittan, and XenoComi. Data on all of the major characters may also be plumbed for background information on KOS-MOS and others. An intuitive control scheme allows for flipping through pages of information by hitting the trigger buttons.
