 Xenosaga Episode II Playable Demo
    Explore the planet called 2nd Miltia and discover the reasons behind the Miltian Conflict which led to the storyline in Xenosaga Episode I. Revel in the stunningly rendered world of Miltia and preview the new battle system. All in all, the demo gives a good taste of the gaming experience and battle system to be found in Episode II which ships on June 24, 2004.
 
 Xenopittan
    A variant of the game Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan where a column of tiles on the left-side of the screen are placed in a staging area located at the center of the screen. Played like Scrabble, tiles are taken from the tile reservoir and set into sensible arrangements alongside the tiles in the play area. Complete letter sets and phrases within a set amount of time and progress to the next puzzle challenge. In keeping in the Xenosaga vein, keywords and graphics from the Xenosaga game comprise the Pittan puzzles, which are then added to the Encyclopedia upon successful completion.
 
 XenoComi
    An interactive adventure where the characters Chaos, Jr., KOS-MOS, M.O.M.O, Shion, and Ziggy provide assistance and/or exploratory skills in various assignments. As the story goes, a hacker has penetrated the Durandal mainframe and Elsa's systems are knocked out. KOS-MOS subsequently goes on a rampage and the crew swings into action to find the hacker and set things back to normal. A graphics section in this portion of Xenosaga Freaks may be unlocked by completing all of the assignments given to the six characters as well as a series of quizzes. In the character select screen of XenoComi, there's a seventh slot which a "?????" over it, which is apparently another character that factors in the overall storyline.
 
 Xenosaga Encyclopedia
    Essentially an upgraded version of the UMN keyword database, the encyclopedia includes images, cinemas, voice samples and an encompassing keyword system where new words are added to the reams of data based on the player's progress in the demo of Xenosaga Episode 2, Xenopittan, and XenoComi. Data on all of the major characters may also be plumbed for background information on KOS-MOS and others. An intuitive control scheme allows for flipping through pages of information by hitting the trigger buttons.

«©NCSX» Twenty one years ago, Capcom rehashed the age old yarn about a damsel in distress. Instead of sending a plumber to do a man's job however, a more traditional hero archetype was summoned to perform the rescue. Jumping and throwing weapons like a banshee, a knight in shining armor went on a mission to save his betrothed from a demonic kidnapper.
 

   The PSP version of Goku Makaimura recreates the original adventure but with rich and vibrant visuals along with a revamped game engine that runs in 2D but also features 3D sequences as well. In the first level of the game, the action is reminiscent of the classic Makaimura where the knight battles a crowd of enemies that approach on the ground and from the air. A spitting Venus flytrap sends deadly kisses through the air and a gruesome mid-level boss shoots squishy eye creatures. Arthur only has a single jump at the outset of the game but defeating the first boss grants him a pair of winged shoes which add the double jump to his repertoire. Arthur lofts even higher when he picks up a special power-up later in the game...
 

   Three game modes are playable: Beginner, Original, and Arcade. In Beginner and Original modes, armor stock may be stored where Arthur can take multiple blows before losing his protective suit. He starts off with two armor stocks and can take two hits before he's in his underoos. Additional armors can be picked up to upgrade his power level as well as his level of protection. In the Arcade Mode, one hit demolishes his suit of armor regardless of its power level.
Capcom Bonus D-Pad
   Every copy of the Asian version of Goku Makaimura includes a bonus D-pad (white) which sticks over the PSP rift-pad. The bonus pad is packaged inside the game case. NCS staffers have been playing the game with the analog nub without any problems but the bonus d-pad is a nice little gift for use with fighting games.

Region Free
   Playstation Portable games are region-free and playable on any version of the PSP handheld.

Demon's Souls - New Import, Partial Shipment

«©NCSX» Man was given a soul on the first day. On the second day however, a "soul devouring demon" was also saddled on the Earth. For a long time, the demon lay dormant but when the King of Voletaria meddles with arcane arts, he wakes the big galoot known as "The Old One" up. A demonic devourer of souls now walks the land of Voletaria and its minions have overrun the kingdom. Many heroes have tried to stem the tide to no avail but your day has come. Fasten the shiny armor, take up the sword, and trudge forward into an unfriendly land where demons, animated skeletons, and soulless villagers attack. The hero of Demon's Souls is also equipped with a shield which blunts oncoming blows and glances away projectiles such as whizzing arrows from demon archers. Crowds of demons occasionally beset the protagonist like a gang which should ignite the button-mashing instinct in all gamers.

Per the news earlier this week, please note that only a partial supply of Demon's Souls was shipped from Sony this week but the remainder should arrive soon. We'll update our customers once we receive an update.

Demon's Souls - Asian Version Shortage Update

«©NCSX» Our shipments of PS3 Demon's Souls [Asian] were dispatched last night but our allocation was cut by 55% which isn't as wretched as the 80% we expected yesterday but it's still pretty bad. Based on information from distributors last night, another batch of the game is due to ship within the next 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately we can't get more precise than that but we'll update accordingly as information is made available.

NCS expects to receive the Asian version of Demon's Souls on Thursday of this week and we'll process and ship the first 45% of our preorders upon delivery. If your order is shipping this week, you'll receive a shipment notification before 7PM EST on Thursday. We'll send an update to everyone else in an effort to reassure and provide confidence that the remainder of our preorder quantities will eventually be on the way. Hakuna Matata - New Import, Ships Today

«©NCSX» A week-long safari in Africa will set you back about US$5000 this year for a single person. Rates are going up to US$6000+ next year because... everything else is going up. NCS recommends Tanzania but we hear Kenya also offers a prime viewing experience. By going on a safari, travelers get to check out how the animals live in the wild and experience nature in all of its raw primal glory. By primal, we mean lions chasing down zebras, buffalo grazing in groups, and elephants trudging around with steadfast determination. Then there are the cheetahs that hang out in the trees while waiting for the sun to stop beating down on their backs and baby baboons playing in the brush with nary a care in the world.

A safari is a sizable investment in both time and resources. Not everyone can go out like that. For the next best thing to being there, Sony presents Hakuna Matata (Afrika) which is basically a safari simulator. Drive out on a jeep or take to the air in a hot-air balloon to view the mighty expanse of Africa and all of its furry denizens in the wild. Instead of behind bars in a prison zoo. Note: The game is playable with an English language option.

Asian version of "Initial D - Extreme Stage" on Monday

NCS will receive the Asian version of "Initial D - Extreme Stage" for the Playstation 3 on Monday (June 30). An email has been sent to customers who preordered the Japanese version of Initial D to determine if the Asian version of the game is acceptable.

Please note the following differences for the Asian version of Initial D Extreme Stage:
1) The game includes an English language game manual instead of a Japanese language manual.
2) Based on information from our suppliers, the online network function is DISABLED.
3) The price of the Asian version of the game is US$63.90. The Japanese version is priced at US$73.90.

The Japanese version of Initial D - Extreme Stage is still scheduled to arrive on either Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
