What is Overlord
Overlord is a dark fantasy anime based on the light novel series by Kugane Maruyama. The story takes place in the year 2138, where virtual reality gaming has reached incredible levels of immersion. The main character, Momonga (later known as Ainz Ooal Gown), is a powerful player in the online game "Yggdrasil." When the game’s servers are shut down, Momonga decides to stay logged in until the end, but instead of logging out, he finds himself trapped in the game world, with all the NPCs suddenly coming to life.
He adopts the persona of his in-game character, a powerful undead overlord, and begins to explore this new reality. The plot follows his efforts to learn more about the world, gain power, and figure out if anyone else from the real world has been similarly trapped.
