«©NCSX» Back in the 80s, American actor Tom Hanks starred in a movie titled Splash with American actress Daryl Hannah. The gist of the film was "Boy Meets Girl" but the girl happened to be a mermaid. The PSP game L@ve Once is sort of like that.

Protagonist Sho Takashi has a family secret - his mother was a mermaid but she traded in her fins for a human form because she fell in love with Sho's father. Prior to the start of the game, Sho reflects on his childhood and reminisces about the time he saw a mermaid. As the game begins, Sho is a high school student and he's mourning the passing of his father. He goes to live with relatives and meets twin sisters who seem familiar. One of them is the mermaid he saw as a child....

Is Sho destined to breed with a mermaid? Will the mermaid kingdom approve of the potential pairing? Will there be a sequel to Splash? Some of these questions will be answered when L@ve Once ships for the PSP on Sept 30, 2010. All preorders will include a bonus Drama CD in 1:1 ratio.

This presents a dilemma for the country because eventually, the amount of people dying exceeds the amount of newborns every year and that bodes ill for a government that depends on people for its reason to exist. With no one to govern, the government become obsolete.

Enter the World Love Organization, a group of love meddlers whose job is to play the part of Cupid and get people to love each other and procreate. The protagonist of the game is a socially awkward high school student named Kuroda Yuuki. He's uncomfortable around girls so there's no chance he'll hook up with a female specimen on his own merits. The W.L.O. discovers that Yuuki has very healthy semen and he can potentially reverse the declining birth rate in Japan so he becomes a target for their love meddling.

Yuuki's handler is a W.L.O. operative named Ioroi Hotaru and he's also helped by a robot named Ina who goes to Yuuki's school under the guise of being his sister. Together, they'll get Yuuki loving and procreating like a proper lothario. W.L.O. Sekai Renai Kikousen is an interactive digital novel which means there's tons of character conversations to read, lots of static images to stare at, and drama. A total of six girls and their attendant storylines are available for Yuuki to choose including a girl named Kusaka Aina who's known Yuuki since they were children and a shy girl named Hayakawa Yuriko. The choices that the protagonist makes during the game are far and few between but they will affect the outcome of the storyline.

W.L.O. Sekai Renai Kikousen was originally released on the Japanese PC in 2009 and the Xbox 360 port features a new CG opening cinema, updated HD graphics, and 5.1ch surround sound for a crisper gaming experience.

«©NCSX» Can't get enough of Konami's Love Plus game? The very game that featured an animated character (Nene Anegasaki) who was so lovable that a Japanese bloke "married" her? Konami doesn't have a proper sequel ready for the market yet but they do have an enhanced version of the original game that's shipping later this year.

In Love Plus+, players interact with three girls named Manaka Takane, Nene Anegasak, and Rinko Kobayakawa with the goal of becoming more than just friends with one of them. Features in the upcoming dating game include new summer-themed events to experience with the girls, voice activated events, a bevy of new hairstyles and clothes that the girls can wear, and the ability to go on short overnight trips with a girl. Preorders are welcome to ship in Summer 2010. Please note Konami has not finalized the release date for this game as of last night.

Borrowing the "angels in training" theme found in Kid's Tentama games, players guide Taiki through a digital novel which features static-screen artwork and voice acting to bolster the story. By reading the storyline and making choices at junctures in the game, Taiki finds love with one of his classmates at school.

«©NCSX» Girl gamers are a growing force in the marketplace and Idea Factory has been more progressive than most of their publishing kin in catering to the female audience. Idea Factory went so far as to create a separate gaming label dubbed Otomate that's dedicated to serving girl gamers with a steady diet of interactive romance games. The latest in the release line-up is Hakuouki: Zuisouroku where players take on the role of a medieval maiden named Yukimura Chizuru who's surrounded by hunky and chiseled boys. She's on a mission to Beijing to find her missing father. Some of the guys in the game look like girls but maybe that's how they bred them way back in the day.

Similar to other Otomate games, Hakuouki: Zuisouroku is presented as an interactive adventure where characters converse, experience events, and forge bonds during the course of the drama. User input is fairly limited and players are primarily relegated to the role of a viewer who reads the onscreen conversations and stares at the examples of manhood that appear on screen. The voice acting by deep-voiced actors injects an additional sensory dimension to the overall romance antics.

«©NCSX» Originally released as an adult-themed interaction game for Japanese PCs in 2007, Time Leap makes a sanitized and censored jump to the family-friendly Xbox 360 this summer. In the adventure, players adopt the role of a cookie-cutter protagonist who interacts and finds potential romance with a cast of characters which include a ginger named Ayumu Nagase, Ayumu (a younger version from the past), a brown haired gal named Yuu Hayama, a glasses-wearer named Haruka Kawasumi, young maid Komomo Shinonome, and a waif who goes by Sakura. The digital cel-shaded girls in Time Leap are unique in that they're their expressions are relatively realistic and more emotive than their love-interaction-game forebears. We see fear, trepidation, angst, and even an occasional thoughtful reflection in the faces of the girls during the course of the game.

The Xbox 360 update features a longer introductory cinema and none of the scenes of copulation found in the PC original. The dancing 3D models of the girls and musical sequences are retained however. Some early preorders will ship with a bonus Time Leap Soundtrack CD which was given away by the publisher in 30% ratio.

There's obviously a demand for love games and Konami capitalizes on the theme once again with Love Plus. Players take on the role of a high school transfer student who finds love with one of three classmates at his new school. The game starts off after the pair have made a love confession already and the couple are in the process of dating, enjoying each other's company, and communicating. With the NDS in hand, players may meet his "girlfriend" at school or send messages by email. The time in the game world moves regardless of whether you're playing or not where day turns to night and the seasons change based on the date.
