«©NCSX» The Pugi of Monster Hunter fame have been making the rounds in the Japanese toy market and they've become desirable in the past few months. The latest needful entry in the world of Pugi is Banpresto's Monster Hunter Super DX Ohirune Pugi which is a pillow in the likeness of an bright-eyed and amiable piglet. Each Pugi pillow measures 30cm or 11.81" in length and is made of soft plushy material that'll serve as a comfortable cushion to rest your weary head. As if to mimic the act of sleeping, the Pugi are positioned in a relaxed posture.
Two styles are on offer: A "Memories Stripe" Pugi which wears a blue and white striped jacket and a Pink Pugi who wears a pink bandana around its blubbery neck along with a pink and white striped garment around its midriff. The pink bandana may be removed from the Pugi for washing and a little pouch may also be found underneath the pink Pugi. Both piglets have a pink bow tied around their curly tails. All preorders have shipped as of last Friday and new orders are welcome to ship today. «©NCSX» The Pugi of Monster Hunter fame have been charming the pants off Japanese folk. How else to explain the rush of Pugi-related merchandise in the past few months? There's more on the way including today's Monster Hunter Tokotoko Pugi Plush which is available in two styles - (1) Memories Stripe version which features a pig wearing a blue-striped blanket and a (2) Gold Crown Pugi which wears a diaper. Must be a baby.
The special feature in the Tokotoko plushes is their mobility. As in their little stubby hooves paddle backwards and forwards so they'll walk when activated and placed on top of a flat surface. Each pig measures 15cm (5.90") in length and is made of soft plushy material. Preorders are welcome to ship in February 2010 at US$20.90 from NCS.

«©NCSX» Chara Ani released the Monster Hunter Pugi Collection G figures last year and the company discovered that toy pigs sold pretty good. The Monster Hunter brand is still going strong in Japan and another manufacturer (Banpresto) is testing the pig-loving audience with a pair of baby Pugi straps which measure 7cm or 2.75" in length and are made of a plushy material. On the left of the photo is a boy baby Pugi with a blue and white striped coat and the baby girl on the right of the photo wears a diaper and a gold crown. She must be a member of royalty.
Preorders for the set of two Pugi straps are welcome to ship in mid-late June 2009 at US$14.90 for the pair which includes free Media Mail shipping.
The Monster Hunter games are all about venturing out into the world and butchering helpless creatures big and small. When a bunch of docile vegetarian monsters are grazing on some leafy vegetables, a hero can charge in and wipe them all out with a few sword strokes and berserker-fueled rage. Y'know, get your KILL ON. Once decimated, the monsters can be carved into a bunch of tasty mutton chops. Nice.
