SALE Nintendo Family Computer Art Clock (2006) $38.90/Each

Originally imported from Japan in the summer of 2006.

Original Update: August 01, 2006
«©NCSX» A few years ago, NCS stocked a Spiderman Clock which featured the swinging webhead... literally. Good old Spidey served as a pendulum of sorts and swung dutifully 24/7. Since then, there hasn't been any other import wall clocks that attracted our interest. Until now. Banpresto has been producing merchandise based on Nintendo nostalgia for a few years now and the company releases three wall clocks inspired by retro Nintendo themes as follows:

» Red Famicom console + controller clock
» Blue Famicom logo clock on a dark blue background
» Donkey Kong title screen clock with leaping Mario at 9 'o clock

We're partial to the Donkey Kong clock but the other two are retro chic as well. The stark design of the blue Famicom logo clock brings back fond memories of the early 80s when Nintendo dominated the market. The clocks are made of a single 1/16" thick PVC disc with a mounting bracket located on the back. Hammer a nail into a wall and then hook the clock onto it. DONE. The diameter of each clock measures 25cm or 9.84" and the hands on each timepiece are colored white for stark contrast against the background colors. A single AA battery (not included) keeps the clock ticking.

We figure all three clocks would mesh well in our little Nintendo shrine where munchkin visitors may alight on the retro flavored Famicom cushions and fiddle around with Nintendo sound keychains. Pricing is set at US$38.90 each and all preorders ship today. New orders are welcome.

Orders ship same-day if ordered before 4PM EDT.

 ETC Megaman Clock

NCS Synopsis
«©NCSX» The blue knight known as Megaman (or Rockman over in Japan) has been Capcom’s consistent earner for over two decades with over 50 games under his belt. Megaman made his gaming debut all the way back in December 1987 on the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System (Famicom, in Japan) console. Back then, games were delivered to consumers on game cartridges instead of discs or download and in the case of the NES, the game carts were grey and had ribbing. That’s right, ribbing on the face which made it easier to grip and insert into the Nintendo console.

Megaman’s coming back but this time in a limited edition (only 10 units produced) Megaman Clock from Kali Meadows. The clock is built into an old school game cartridge case and the decal on front shows Rockman pointing his blaster at anyone viewing the timepiece. Price: US$40.

TOYS One Piece Swing Clock Battle Mode - Import Preorder

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Chopper's the mascot and physician for the Straw Hat Pirates and we'd consider him to be a supporting player rather than a central hero in the One Piece series. That changes when Japanese manufacturer Morinaga Sangyou releases the One Piece Swing Clock Battle Mode which features Chopper in the central role or more precisely, the swinging pendulum in the desktop clock.
As the seconds tick down, Chopper swings to and fro in a highly monotonous fashion. Sort of like clockwork. The One Piece Swing Clock measures 24cm or 9.44" in height.
Preorders are welcome to ship in late August 2010 at JPY1800 or US$36.90 from NCS. Please note this item will incur dimensional weight and NCS recommends only shipping by UPS Ground within the U.S. and USPS Airmail for international customers.

TOYS One Piece Chopperman Moving Clock Battle Mode - Preorder

NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Chopper is a literal swinger in Morinaga Sangyou's One Piece Chopperman Moving Clock Battle Mode where the entire breadth and width of Chopper's animal-personage serves as a very odd-looking pendulum. The face of the clock features the cast of the Straw Hats but it's Chopper who gets the most face time. Since Chopper is so big, the arc of his movement isn't too wide but the swing-motion is discernible even from a distance. Each Chopperman Moving Clock measures 33cm or 12.99" in diameter and is designed to be affixed to a wall.

Preorders are welcome to ship in late August 2010 at JPY1800 or US$36.90 from NCS. Please note this item will incur dimensional weight and NCS recommends only shipping by UPS Ground within the U.S.

TOYS One Piece Character Wall Clock - Import Preorder

NCS Preorder Synopsis
«©NCSX» Manufacturers in Japan release a few dozen clocks every year which bear the images of manga/animation characters. NCS avoids most of them since we have conviction in their innate inability to sell. Occasionally, a manufacturer announces a clock that probably won't sell too well but we'll get them anyway because we want them for our own use regardless of general market conditions.

Morimoto's One Piece Character Wall Clocks feature the Straw Hat Pirates in three different scenes. Maybe the word "scenes" isn't the correct term to use since the pirates are just standing there as if posing for a photographer. From the top of the product placard, the clocks are:

A) Chopper stands in the center and is flanked by Luffy, Zoro, and others
B) Luffy cracks his knuckles whilst Dracule and Zoro watch
C) Luffy hangs out with past and present Warlords of the Sea

Each clock measures 20 x 13.5cm (7.87 x 5.315") in area and is powered by two AA batteries (not included). Preorders are welcome to ship in late August 2010 at US$23.90 each.

TOY Gintama Clock - Import Preorder

NCS Preorder Synopsis
«©NCSX» Clocks with missing numbers aren't user-friendly because when it's 9:45AM and you're in a mad dash to get to your place of gainful employment, quickly glancing at the number-missing-clock might leave you guessing. The dialogue in your head might go something like this:

Self: "Did I see 9:45AM or was it 10:45AM?"
Self: "If it's the latter, I may be bidding adieu to my job"

Cospa's Gintama Clock hides numbers. It's user-unfriendly. The only redeeming quality about the clock is the artwork of the white-haired Gintama grasping a cup of concoction that looks like some kind of frozen treat. Each clock measures 25cm (9.84") in diameter and its face is covered by a hard plastic shell. A single "AA" battery powers the clock. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late March 2010 at JPY2500 (US$35.90).

Search Engine Observation

Just an observation regarding the "duck clock" and Google's efficacy... since we have time to spare with the main shop down.

Last Friday at about 12:00PM EST, we threw up a product description and preorder for the GA-KO Alarm Clock. About an hour later, Google had already indexed the page. By Friday evening, typing in the search term of "GA-KO Alarm Clock" in Google brought up our preorder shop's product listing as the first search result. As of this morning it's third under IGN.

Searching Yahoo for the same search terms on Friday evening brought up our original posting from this website (www.ncsx.com) for the first result. However, querying Microsoft's Live search engine for the GA-KO Alarm Clock only brought up a brief mention from our www.ncsxshop.com site that we made on Friday. It was only on Sunday afternoon that Live picked up the blog post we made on Wordpress and positioned it first in the search results.

GA-KO Alarm Clock - Preorder, Ships on July 31

In the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 game, there's a scene where Naomi Hunter and Sunny Gurlukovich cook three sunny-side up eggs on a frying pan. The tender sequence is punctuated by a cooking timer in the shape of a no-nonsense duck. To get the cooking time for the eggs proper, Sunny sets the GA-KO Timer so that it'll shake and sing out "Dah-Dah" when the eggs are ready.

Konami brings the GA-KO Timer home this summer but the company transitions the product into a more useful GA-KO Alarm Clock which tells time and gets you out of your slumber with insistent "singing" sounds. Note that the duck's wings are on its hips which means you better get up when the alarm sounds off.

The product measurements are H:160mm x W:102mm x D:107mm and the clock runs on two AAA batteries. The clock is constructed of ABS but the timepiece face cover is polycarbonate. The distributor's solicitation notes that only 2000 units will be produced and preorders are welcome today.

Piyo-chan Mezamashi Tokei - Preorder

In Japanese pop culture, animals are invariably round and devoid of jagged edges. The eyes must also be beady and appendages are nearly non-existent. The Piyo-chan duckling character from Sanrio fits the animal template guideline perfectly. Piyo-chan is basically a golden-colored puff with a beak.

For fans of Piyo-chan, Eikoh presents an alarm clock in two styles which features an old-school bell mechanism on top. Say you set the alarm to ring at 6:30AM because... those donuts aren't going to make themselves. When the clock strikes 6:30AM, a little metal hammer on top will strike both bells for a piercing wake-up experience. Preorders are welcome to ship in late September 2008 at US$15.90 each.
