   Drama. Haruhi would be lost without it since she craves drama like the sand craves the surf. Haruhi even wants drama when attending summer school and she recruits the members of the SOS-Brigade to help her uncover the "Seven Mysterious Secrets" of North High School.

 

   Sega presents an original storyline set in the Suzumiya Haruhi Universe which takes place inside the confines of North H.S. The game starts innocently enough with an SD version of Kyon setting things in motion with news of the "Mysterious Secrets" followed by Haruhi's steadfast determination to ferret them out. A lengthy introductory sequence sets up the story in visual novel style but eventually gives way to a point and click action game where Kyon is moved and controlled around the school. By interacting with the student body as well as fellow members of the SOS-Dan, Kyon and friends uncover the mysteries of their school.

PSP Suzumiya Haruhi-Chan no Mahjong - Japanese Preorder

«©NCSX» We never pegged Suzumiya Haruhi as someone who'd play a game as mundane as mahjong but she's seated at the table and ready to roll. The members of the SOS Brigade join Suzumiya for a tile clattering experience where standard rules apply and raucous action erupts once the action starts. To add authenticity to the mahjong interplay, publisher Kadokawa tapped the talents of the voice actors from the animated series to provide the speech in the game.

   Preorders are welcome for a regular edition of the game and a Deluxe Pack which includes a bonus DVD and an exclusive Suzumiya Nendoroid which depicts the title character with an obtuse facial expression.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou - Import Preorder

When we watched a preview of Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou a couple of weeks ago, we immediately thought of Idolmaster. Conjure up images of dancing girls backed up by ear-piercing J-Pop and you have the general idea behind both games. In the case of the incoming Suzumiya title, it's three girls on impromptu stages with choreographed moves that's strangely mesmerizing. Once you begin watching, you can't take your eyes off the theatrics. Sort of like watching a car accident or a drunken bum fight in the middle of some metropolitan nowhere.

The dancers are Yuki Nagato, Suzumiya Haruhi, and Mikuru Asahina and their moves are basically syncopated together with Suzumiya serving as the superstar. That makes Yuki and Mikuru the backup dancers who follow the leader. To succeed in the game, players watch the cue bar on the bottom of the screen and wave the Wii Remote at the right time to control Haruhi so she dances in time to the music.

A Free Mode in the game allows gamers to choose the music, the high school background where the girls dance, and the costumes that they wear. A limited edition which includes a posable Haruhi figure in her school uniform (which sort of looks like a FIGMA figure) is also available for preorder at JPY8800 or US$98.

In the The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, the selfsame heroine of the series is a high school student name Haruhi who can alter reality without knowing it. Bandai takes a more direct approach to Haruhi's shifting realities with a special 20cm (7.87") tall figure which changes color depending on the temperature.

When the mercury rises over 30°C or 90°F, Haruhi wears red bunny ears, a red skintight dress, and a red bow to complement her bare legs. However, when the temperature drops below 30°C, Haruhi's ensemble changes color to black and her legs are covered with black hosiery. In the recent Suzumiya Haruhi PSP game, the heroine of the series charged the SOS- Brigade with the production of a movie. In the Playstation 2 Suzumiya Haruhi game, the SOS-Bridgade's new challenge is the creation of a video game worthy of Haruhi's refined taste and esteemed judgment. Three types of video games may be created for Haruhi as follows:

1) An RPG in the style of the olden 8-bit Dragon Quest games
2) A tactical strategy game that's a clone of the Super Robot Wars titles
3) A Princess Maker-esque game where a girl such as Mikuru is raised

Players take on the role of Kyon and the game is viewed from his perspective but the other members of the SOS-Brigade are fair game as everyone cooperates to create the perfect video game. Based on the choices that the player makes during the interactive sequences in Tomadoi, the contents and overall outcome of the finished game is changed accordingly. Once the game is coded and completed, players may be play it and check out their own handiwork.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yakusoku - New Import, In Stock

In the second Suzumiya Haruhi novel, "Suzumiya Haruhi no Tameiki" which translates to "The Sighs of Suzumiya Haruhi," the irrepressible heroine of the series takes on the role of film director and chastises the SOS-Brigade into producing a film for the impending School Cultural Festival. Mikuru Asahina (brunette on the game cover) is cast as the heroine of the film while Yuki Nagato (the witch) serves up a meaty role as anti-heroine. Rounding out the actors in the student film is an esper named Itsuki Koizumi who's the love interest for the two girls.

The PSP game is an interactive novel with spot animations and voice acting that's provided by the actors from the animated series. Players take on the role of Kyon and engage in various interactions with the main cast members and read the conversations that ensue. Although the story in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yakusoku is based on the "The Sighs of Suzumiya Haruhi," the scenarios and overall material are new and written exclusively for the game. Multiple endings are also possible depending on the actions that one takes over the course of the game. In addition to the interactive experience, a number of mini-games are also playable at certain junctures including a simple beach volleyball diversion. Bandai touts a new "Motion Portrait" technology that's used in the game where lifelike facial expressions are imbued on the characters so that they appear to be "living" renditions of the heroines we've grown to adore.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yakusoku Super Premium - Partial

One of our shipments of the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yakusoku Super Premium Box arrived today and the first half of our preorders will ship this afternoon. The rest should be shipping out of Japan by tonight or tomorrow but it seems some suppliers are treating this entire week as a holiday with their lackadaisical attitude and work ethic.
