Star Wars Episode 4 C-3PO & R2-D2 Sofubi - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Kotobukiya originally released the Star Wars Episode 4 C-3PO & R2-D2 Sofubi in Japan on September 21, 2006 and the soft vinyl kit sold out soon afterwards. When August rolls around, Kotobukiya will re-release the same toy at the same price of JPY14,490. The renditions of C-3PO and R2-D2 are constructed of painted soft vinyl (sofubi) which means they're fixed-pose but somewhat flexible if you bend their respective appendages.

Please note that the toy will ship in kit form but the pieces are easy to plug together to make the scene shown on the photo to the right. The base that the droids stands upon is included in the package. Preorders are welcome to ship in Aug 2009 at JPY13800 or US$149.90 from NCS.

Aliens vs Predator 2: Chestbuster Real Sofubi - Preorder

«©NCSX» In the American vernacular, the term "chest buster" may hold a number of different meanings or connotations. Using the term in an office setting may potentially get you reported to human resources. For NCS' purposes however, "Chest Buster" refers to an alien creature which gestates inside a human host before eventually eviscerating said host at the moment of birth. It's a wicked awakening which made for a cinematic fireworks exactly three decades ago when the Alien movie bowed.

Japanese manufacturer Omron hopes to recreate the terror of Alien this summer when they release the Chest Buster Sofubi toy which measures 70cm or 27.55" in length. Preorders are welcome to ship in June 2009.

Purikon Sofubi Fate Stay Night Saber - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Saber's been on a tear recently with a bevy of figures being released and announced in quick succession. The latest Saber rendition squishes the blonde knight into the body of a toddler with stubby arms and a squat stature. Although Saber still carries Excalibur in her right hand, she's no longer imposing or threatening in her latest turn - she's just a punk kid with a toy sword.

The Pretty Conscious Series (Purikon) version of Saber from Taki Corporation is made of soft vinyl and features eight points of articulation so her arms, legs, and even the sprig of hair atop her head can move freely. The figure measures 16cm (6.29") tall without the hair but if you count the hair, Saber stands 20cm tall. Preorders are welcome to ship on or around March 31, 2009 at JPY4179 or US$46.90 from NCS.

Nintendo Prize Collection Sofubi Figure 3 - New Import

«©NCSX» The Nintendo Prize Collection versions of the Mario Sofubi Figures are smaller versions of their DX Sofubi brethren. The latest set features five figures which have posable arms (when applicable) as follows:

» Mario - Same old design from the very first Sofubi set
» Green Yoshi - Wears brown boots as if to mimic Mario's footwear
» Yellow Yoshi - Green boots on a yellow beast don't really match
» Wario - The width of Wario is thrice that of Mario
» Goomba - Identical to the Goomba in the second Mario Sofubi set

Note that the Mario, Green Yoshi, and Goomba figures are the same exact figures from previous NPC Sofubi Figure sets but the Yellow Yoshi and Wario are brand new. Preorders have shipped as of yesterday and new orders are welcome to ship this afternoon. «NCS Photo Gallery»

Super Mario DX Sofubi Figure 7 - New Import

«©NCSX» Bandai has been pushing the same old Mario Sofubi figure for years now. They've never changed the design or detailing of the toy and they're not about to start now. The seventh Mario Sofubi series gives us another bout of deja vu with an identical Mario figure but at least Toad is different. Mario is dressed in his regulation-issue red and blue attire and measures 22cm (8.66") tall while Toad is 18cm or 7.08" in height.

Both Sofubi figures feature posable arms and their heads may be twisted from side to side for limited posturing. Preorders have shipped as of yesterday and new orders are welcome. «NCS Photo Gallery»

V.C.D. Star Wars C-3PO Sofubi Toy - Import Preorder

On any given Monday when we're given the choice between R2-D2 and C-3PO, we'd pick the droid... but that's only because C-3PO is annoying and soft-spoken. Medicom may change our collective preferences however with the super-shiny and posable Vinyl Collectible Doll featuring a glimmering C-3PO made of soft vinyl. The paint job is impressive in that it emulates the appearance and sheen of gold metal on mere PVC.
Sofubi C-3PO measures 21cm or 8.26" tall and wears a blank expression that's evocative of a wooden plank. Preorders are welcome to ship in February 2009 at US$58 each.

Tachikoma Silver Soft Vinyl Figure - Preorder

The default color of the Tachikoma is blue with white trim. However, in episode 12 of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, two color variants were shown: a silver-painted Tachikoma which was eventually destroyed and a yellow-painted model which was also wrecked in an all-out assault against the Umibozu.

NCS has peddled a few yellow-painted Tachikoma toys in the past year but Fewture's Tachikoma Silver Sofubi is the first gray-gunmetal colored version that we'll stock later this year. The toy is made of soft-vinyl for a pliable mech that's somewhat shiny. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late November 2007 at JPY6800 or US$65 from NCS.
