   A few years ago, NCS sold a collection of puzzle toys from System Service dubbed the 'KoroKoro Hakusei Mini Cube Keychain Collection' which featured four Rubik's Cubes and a cylindrical variation. Fast forward six years and System Service is back with the 'Puzzle Collection Neo' which cuts down the amount of Rubik's Cubes to two, retains the cylinder, and adds three color variations of the Rubik's Snake.

   Preorders for the complete set of six puzzles are welcome to ship in late February 2016.

It looked simple enough - a structure that was made of twenty-seven cubes which were aligned in a basic 3 x 3 x 3 array. Each of the six sides were painted a distinct color and the goal was to mash up all the colors and then match them all up again. Although few players would ever solve the puzzle with its 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible combinations, the Rubik's Cube went on to sell a hundred million units to a worldwide audience in the 80's.

System Service pays homage to the Rubik's Cube this summer with a collection of five puzzle constructs which are based on Erno's original design. Three of the toys are standard 3x3x3 cubes which differ in the color of the sides but there's also a 2x2 cube and a cylindrical variation. All of the little toys are fully functional and may be twisted, turned, and shuffled around like the original Rubik's Cube. Although few players would ever solve the puzzle with its 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible combinations, the Rubik's Cube went on to sell a hundred million units to a worldwide audience in the early 80's.

In the ensuing decades, the Rubik's Cube craze has faded although it still sells roughly half a million units per annum. Rubik's Clock

By the time the Rubik's Cube had passed critical mass in the early 80s, it had sold a total of 250 million units worldwide. The mania crested nearly two decades ago but the recognizable toy is still being sold and licenses are still being granted for products based on the best-selling puzzle. Banpresto hooks onto the Rubik franchise and plans two wall clocks which feature Rubik's Cube designs. The first clock sports yellow, red, blue, and white colors with the Rubik's Cube logo slightly off-center. The second clock shows a Cube in mid-twist with the logo on the right side of the clock.
