Relakkuma Sherbet Maker - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Back in the day*, ice cream makers for home-based use were rickety and not very good. We recall one motorized ice cream contraption that was shaped like a fat thermos with an inner cylinder that spun when powered up. It made a noise that was strangely similar to a lawnmower but twice as scary. The device required salt, ice, and assorted ingredients to create a quart of ice cream. Instead of ice cream as the end product however, we got a slurry of ice chips and dilute milky matter. Over the years, the quality of the machines has improved and we're able to make honest to goodness ice cream, sherbet, and other frozen treats in the office kitchen. The machines still make a lot of noise but at least the results are worth the din.

System Service has announced a Sherbet Maker that features a Relakkuma or
Korilakkuma design and is powered by hand crank. In case you didn't know, only three ingredients are necessary to create sherbet: Sugar, baking soda, and citric acid. Mix them together so the soda and acid start fizzing and proceed to eat. Additional flavors may be added to the base sherbet foundation but note that only dry ingredients should be used. Preorders for the Relakkuma Sherbet Maker are welcome to ship in mid-late July 2009 at JPY15.90 each.

* The term "
back in the day" as used by the NCS Corporation refers to an ephemeral period of time that could be as much as 20 years ago or as little as 10 years ago. It is a purposely nebulous descriptor meant to bring readers back to a time that was perhaps more innocent and less sophisticated than what we know as the "current day."

Relakkuma Pocket Watch - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Pocket watches are generally more sophisticated in appearance and operation than a wristwatch. Maybe it's because there's more parts and a lot more effort is involved in telling time through a pocket watch. A wristwatch requires a mere flick of the wrist and a downward glance. Checking the time on a pocket watch on the other hand is a multi-step process. First you'll have to fish it out of your pocket, grasp it firmly, and then press downwards on the release button to open it up. Next, you'll have to angle the watch so that its face peers back at you so that the time can be told.

If you want to complicate your life with a timepiece that was popular in the 18th century, the Relakkuma Pocket Watch is for you. The lid features Rilakkuma's simple mug whilst the face shows off a silhouette of the bear. The watch runs on a single power cell and will ship from the manufacturer already ticking. Preorders are welcome to ship in July 2009.

Relaxuma: Minna de Goyururi Seikatsu - New, In Stock

«©NCSX» Relakkuma, Korilakkuma, and a chick named Kiriroi-tori return to the world of video games in a new collection of challenges, interactive sequences, and other activities that would appeal to the grade school set. Admirers of Relakkuma may enjoy jigsaw puzzles, a Concentration card-matching game, and maintain a scrapbook of photos. When Relakkuma is eating, sleeping, or performing other actions, players can take snapshots and insert them into a digital photobook. Players who have a Wii Balance Board can use it to do yoga poses by following the bear characters on screen.

At the outset of the game, Relakkuma is seated in his room next to a bed covered with bright yellow sheets. There's not much going on so hover the cursor over the bear and press the "A" button so that a question mark appears over him. Next, hover the cursor over the bed and press the "A" button again to make Relakkuma attempt to clamber onto the bed. Since he's a sloth-like ne'er do well, the simple act of going to bed turns into a Herculean task and players will watch as he topples backwards and lies prone. Sort of like a wooden plank. While the shenanigans are happening, gamers are supposed to press the "2" button to bring up the camera and take embarrassing snapshots of Relakkuma's clumsiness.

Relakkuma Onsen Solar Mascot - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Toys that run on solar power have a special place in our hearts at NCS. They're eco-friendly since batteries aren't required and the loving light of the sun is all that's necessary to make them move. Solar toys are simple, run clean, and won't pollute our waterways. Please kindly ignore the few ounces of PVC that were used to create the toy.

In the case of the Relakkuma Onsen Solar Mascot, the brown bear known as Relakkuma and his honey-colored friend Korilakkuma are enjoying the soothing effects of a faux hot tub. While they're relaxing and soaking in the faux water, their heads will wobble whenever sunlight glances at the solar panels located at the front of each toy. It's almost like poetry in motion. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late June 2009 (when the sun is absolutely blazing) at US$16.90 per toy.

Relakuma Hokori Frying Pan - Import Preorder

In Japan, it's not uncommon for manufacturers to license a character and then produce mountains of merchandise that have nothing to do with said character. Nada. Over the weekend, System Service opened up preorders for a wide array of Relakuma products including bath mats, pillows, straps, and more which bore the image of the friendly bear. It was like the "Mother of All Relakuma Products" had dawned upon Japan.

By the time we glared at the fifth Relakuma product, our eyes were glassy but then the Relakuma Frying Pan popped up on the solicitation list. A nonstick frying pan in the shape of Relakuma's head. We had to have it.

The Relakuma Hokori Frying Pan (with handle) measures 25cm or 9.84" in length but the actual cooking pan measures only 8.89cm or 3.5" in diameter. That's good enough to cook an egg, some vegetables, and even small pancakes - which is one of Relakuma's favorite foods. The long handle is conducive to the cooking procedure commonly known as "flipping" so you'll be able to flip eggs and flapjacks with ease. Preorders are welcome to ship in late November 2008 at US$20 from NCS.

Relakuma Narikiri Poncho - Preorder

A barrage of preorders for products and plushes based on the Relakuma franchise have filtered in over the past couple of days but while we'll import them for our wholesale operations, we won't offer them for direct retail sale on ncsxshop. They're the kinds of toys and miniatures that sell well in a retail shop environment where buyers can browse, touch, and feel the products.

One product we'll test for direct web sales is the Relakuma Poncho from System Service which is a water-resistant raincoat that features a Relakuma hoodie and a conventional poncho design. While we would normally target such a poncho at the pre-teen set, the Relakuma poncho is specifically designed to fit adults. Repeat: adults.

Each poncho measures 90cm or 35.43" in length from the top of the hood to the bottom of the garment. Two colors are available for preorder: A brown version and a tan variant. Preorders are welcome to ship in late May 2008 at US$25 per poncho.

Relakkuma Hokori Room Boots

When padding around a carpeted house or cabin, your feet can go commando or slip into a pair of furry slippers. That's fine and good during the spring or summer but how about the winter when the air is cold and the radiator isn't pushing out the heat like it should be? Enter System Service's Relakkuma Hokori Room Boots which are furry and enclose an entire foot with warmth and toasty goodness.
The shoes measure 35cm or 13.77" in length and a yellow boot and a pink boot are on offer. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late November 2007 at US$16 each.

Relakkuma Mat

Relakkuma has one of those faces where you take one glance and say to yourself, "I know him. I know this %$&#$ animal from somewhere." We're guessing it's the ears but the soulful and expressive eyes may also be the cue to rouse feelings of familiarity.
To ensure that Relakkuma is always on your mind, System Service has started preorders for a mat which measures 60 x 44cm in area which converts to 23.62 x 17.32" imperial. The mat is made of a cushiony material which may be perfect for the bedroom, the game room, or perhaps even the bathroom. Whatever room you choose, you'll soon be able to step on Relakkuma's face with a combat boot or a waffle slipper. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late September 2007 at US$19.00/mat.
