«©NCSX» Earlier this year, we had one of our locks replaced because the Medeco cylinder assembly apparently went bye-bye. The locksmith that did the work needed a flashlight but the first light we tried was dead. Did you know that you're supposed to change the batteries in flashlights at least once every 10 years? We didn't. The second flashlight we tried was one of those shake-lights where you joggle it around for a minute or two to charge up the internal battery. That worked and the locksmith was so grateful, he only overcharged us by 50% instead of the usual 80%.

   The next time the need arises for a flashlight, we might reach for Taito's Star Wars Sound Lightsaber Flashlight (say that three times quickly) which shoots out a beam of white light to scare away the darkness. A second function on the 20cm saber allows it to make energy-swooshing sounds to impress the girls, the Star Wars nerds fans, and the occasional light-needing locksmith. Please note that three LR44 batteries are required to operate the flashlight (not included).  The Lightsaber measures 20cm and two styles are available: a black or a silver light saber.

Memory prices keep dropping and capacities continue to grow ever larger. That is, unless you're purchasing a Star Wars themed 1GB flash drive that commands a premium price thanks to the novelty of its special design.

Taito's new Star Wars Light Saber USB Flash Drive is shaped like a stubby light saber which measures 11cm or 4.33" in height with 1GB of storage capacity. Sure, that isn't much nowadays but you can plug it into your PC and utter corny lines like, "The Force is With Me" or "My feeble skills are no match for the power of the Dark Side." Two versions of the flash drive are on offer (red or green). A short 3" USB cable is included in the packaging in case you have need for a short 3" USB cable. «©NCSX» A few years ago, NCS stocked a Star Wars Light Saber Umbrella from Happinet that can best be described as a "big ass umbrella" which featured an image of Darth Vader. When May 2010 rolls around, Taito will release another Star Wars umbrella which is the telescoping type. In its native form, the umbrella measures a mere 30cm (11.81") in length but press a single button and the umbrella shoots upwards and outwards in a rain-shielding polyester bloom that measures 95cm or 37.40" in diameter. Three images are printed onto the fabric of the umbrella: the Death Star, an X-Wing Fighter, and the Millennium Falcon. Preorders ship in May 2010.

«©NCSX» Generic MP3 players from fly-by-night operations in China cost about $2.70 each in bulk. Add an FM radio function and you might bump the price up by about $0.45 each. We don't want those. We want Taito's officially licensed -=Star Wars Light Saber Kei MP3 Player=- which isn't generic. It's specialized and looks like a light saber handle with nifty and ornate detailing - the one on the right side of the photo even has a ribbed design. Won't find that in a no-frills generic player.

The Star Wars MP3 player measures 8cm or 3.14" in length and accepts songs stored on microSD memory card. There's no LCD screen to view the song list but tracks will be played in the order that they're stored on the memory card directory. Preorders are welcome to ship in February 2010.

Fate Hollow Ataraxia: Saber Maid Version - Preorder

Alter's interpretation of Saber of Fate Stay Night fame gets her out of the blue suit of armor and into a frilly maid's outfit. The blonde warrior also trades in her armaments for a mop. Saber stands with panty-hosed-covered legs apart and rests both hands atop the handle of a cleaning instrument.

A bucket of water is nowhere to be seen but you can probably buy a toy pail from a USA toy shop or make your own. We're going to use a soda bottle cap and fill it with orange detergent. A blue bow keeps the back of Saber's hair together so that it forms a compact bun. The figure is set at 1/6 scale and measures 26cm or 10.23" tall from her feet to the top of her maid's doily/cap.

Saber Maid was originally released last year but is being reissued in December 2008 by the manufacturer. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late December 2008 at JPY8000 or US$78.90 from NCS.

Available in either red or green luminescence, the Light Saber light could serve as a marker in your home movie theater to designate the seating area from the snack area. Starwars Light Saber Remote Control - New, In Stock

Most television remote controls are rectangular and flattish. Taito diverges from standard design conventions and shapes their remote control into a light saber which measures 20cm or 7.87" in length. The general controls found on a regular remote are featured on the saber as follows:

Channel selection (up and down)
Volume (up and down)
On/Off rectangular pushbutton switch

Two styles are on offer, a standard light saber with silvery color and a black/silver variant. The saber remote runs on two AAA batteries which are housed in the handle. Please note that a syncing action must be performed to make the remote work with your television. Quick and easy, the steps are as follows:

Power on the television you wish to sync with and hold the remote near it. Press the On/Off button on the saber and then push and hold each channel and volume button for approximately 1 second. Once the step has been performed, the remote will be in sync with the TV.
