NCS Product Synopsis

   Many moons ago, Epoch released the first Mario Crystal Maze tabletop game where players manipulated a joystick to move a playfield so that a metal ball was moved from the starting line to the goal. Epoch is at it again but this time, they've miniaturized the maze games into tiny contraptions where the aim is the same - move a ball from start to finish within the confines of a plastic maze. Six styles are included in this set and NCS will gather them all up for the sake of completion.

«©NCSX» Japanese manufacturer Epoch is primarily a toy maker although they've dabbled in video games and related products in the past. The company dabbles a little bit more by releasing two board games based on New Super Mario Bros. The first game on offer today is called the "Crystal Maze Board Game" which ships in a large cardboard box and is suitable for children at least 4 years old and adults with a penchant for anything related to Mario gaming and frivolity.
 

   Anyone who's played Super Monkey Ball will take to Crystal Maze like a fish to water. By using the red joystick/lever located at the bottom of the game, players tilt the play board to move three metal marbles (one at a time) from the START area at the bottom of the board to the GOAL located at the upper left corner of the board. The maze is made up of nine components which fit together 3 x 3 on the play platform. Epoch touts the ability to configure the maze parts into 1,511,129,088 combinations but we got up to eleven combinations before it was time for lunch. Crystal Maze is fairly challenging due to the convoluted and tight-spaced maze one has to maneuver the metal marbles through.

   Nearly a decade ago, Epoch released a 'New Super Mario Bros Crystal Maze' tabletop game where players moved a maze to get a ball from point A to point B. Epoch revisits the maze theme in their upcoming set of 'Super Mario 3D World Maze Game' gashapon where players wiggle a miniature joystick to move a maze and shuttle a sphere from beginning to end.

TOYS Mori No Chichan Nakama Tachi - Japanese Preorder

«©NCSX» Furry rodents are on the loose in Epoch's Mori No Chichan Nakama Tachi collection of toys. Each rodent is accompanied by a segment of stump which provides shelter as well as a pedestal upon which to sit. The set of toys features four mice-like creatures and one mushroom. The mushroom is also accompanied by a stump which it can hide within since everyone knows that mushrooms are highly desirable.

   Each rodent measures 8cm or 3.14" in length and is covered in soft and plushy fur. The tails attached to each toy are rigid but they may be moved slightly for whatever reason. Preorders for the complete set of five toys are welcome to ship in April 2011 at JPY1200 or US$20.90 from NCS.

Gokiburi-chan Itazura Collection - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Ever see a cockroach fly through the air like a butterfly? A brown butterfly? We have. Scared the daylights out of the office workers down the hall and the shrieks sounded like Death himself was working overtime. The fear was palpable even though the roach was probably more scared than the office workers were.

In order to instill fear in the hearts of squeamish citizens throughout society, Epoch has started preorders for the Gokiburi-chan Itazura Collection which features six types of PVC roach toys. Two of the roaches hide in a packet of gum while the other four are free-flowing. That means they can be hurled through the air at innocent bystanders to either make them really scared or really angry. Preorders ship in mid-late Feb 2009.
