An androgynous hero named Yuri Lowell serves as the protagonist who teams up with a assortment of fellow travelers including a pink-maned girl named Estellise, a boy named Karol, a knight who goes by the name Flynn Scifo, and a pipe-clenching pooch named Rapido. The battle system in Vesperia is dubbed the "Evolved Flex-Range Linear Motion Battle System" which is just a convoluted way of saying "3D slashing." When the screen cracks and an encounter starts, players have full control of Yuri while the computer controls the other party members. Listen carefully to Rapido's utterances when he attacks - he sounds like Scooby Doo trying to snarl. After each battle, the heroes stand around with triumphant poses while the camera slowly pans across the screen.
Early preorders for Tales of Vesperia will include a bonus Special DVD courtesy of Namco which was given out in 50% ratio.
