Spelunker: Dangerous Hero Sofubi Toy - New, In Stock

Our first encounter with the game "Spelunker" was on the Atari 8-bit computers from way back when. In 1985, Spelunker was ported over to the Famicom and that single moment was enough to green-light a toy figure based on the hero of the game... over two decades later.

Japanese manufacturer Pleasant Angels has started a toy series dubbed Old Game Heroes and the debut figure is the miner/adventurer from Spelunker. The soft vinyl figure measures 16cm or 6.29" tall and is armed with a Phantom Blaster which is used to vaporize discarnates that lurk in the caverns below. Spelunker also used a bomb to blow up rocks but the figure isn't equipped with any explosives. Our nomination for the next figure in the series: Bagman. «Larger Photos»

Indiana Jones Sofubi by PansonWorks - Preorder

When the new Indiana Jones movie bows on May 22, Indy isn't a young man anymore. He's an old guy. So what's a toy producer to do? Make an old man toy or hearken back to an earlier time? The choice is obvious in Pansonworks' upcoming Indiana Jones sofubi (soft vinyl) toy which features a fresh-faced adventurer and his wizened dad. Indy's also sporting about a day's worth of stubble on his chin.

Each figure measures 12cm or 4.72" in height and Pansonworks is selling each toy individually at JPY3000 or US$30.90 each from NCS. Preorders are welcome to ship in late June 2008.
