«©NCSX» The Sesame Street crew gets a radical makeover and they're churned into miniature spheres that are fitted with suction cups. Bert and Ernie are located on the left side of the photo and they look like a lemon and an orange with small eyes and big noses. Big Bird is discernible with its yellow color and a big suction cup for a beak. The Cookie Monster, Elmo, Oscar, and Grover round out the adorable cast. The suction cups allow each Sesame Street character to be stuck on each other and chained together like a gang. Preorders are welcome to ship in late August 2009.

American pop culture is pervasive throughout the world. Kids in Kazakhstan listen to Britney alongside native songstress Zarina and everyone in the UAE knows what an iPod is. American movies enjoy far-flung penetration around the globe which in turn promotes American culture and perhaps viewpoints. Sesame Street is an American cultural phenomenon but the franchise has also been inculcated into the minds of Japanese children thanks to television, books, and of course, toys.

NCS receives a few hundred Japanese Sesame Street preorders every year. We dodge most of them but occasionally, we're be drawn to one or two and throw them up for preorder. Today's offer is for a Sesame Street shoulder bag which features one of three animals from the popular series. Preorders are welcome to ship in late May 2008 at US$15.90 each.

Sesame Street Full Ponpon Coat Mascot - Preorder

Tykes around the world have grown up with Sesame Street characters and a bounty of related goods are released in Japan each year. Omron recently announced six Sesame Street products but we're only importing one of them - the SS Full Ponpon Coat Mascots. The characters are in baby incarnation and wear fluffy coats as follows:

Even as a baby, Cookie Monster has crazy eyes. The Sesame Street mascots measure 8cm or 3.14" in height and preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late Feb 2008 at US$16 for the complete set of three.

Sesame Street: Premium Big Elmo Plush - Preorder

Everything's bigger in Texas but things can get pretty honking big in Japan as well. NCS has peddled "life-size" renditions of Godzilla, Gamera, and Gundam but those three are meant to be big. Elmo is generally a smallish beast which gurgles out high-pitched noises when tickled but he's apparently growing up.

Preorders are welcome for a 132cm or 51.96" tall Elmo plush which towers over all of his stateside plush counterparts. Whereas little Elmo looks somewhat cute, the oversize Elmo looks downright disturbing. It's the eyes. Preorders are welcome to ship on or around October 31, 2007.

Sesame Street Candle - Preorder

Whenever we're in the market for a candle, we'll send a minion down to the local bodega where a selection of scented candles housed in mason jars may be purchased. Then there are the religious candles with images of Jesus etched on the outside of the glass cylinders. However, there are no Sesame Street candles.

Japanese manufacturer Ensky fills the need for candles featuring Sesame Street characters this winter with a blue Cookie Monster candle and a red Elmo candle. Both candles appear to be poured into carnival fish bowls so after you're done burning the candle, fill it with water and drop a goldfish. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late November 2007.

Sesame Street Remote Control

Elmo of Sesame Street fame is usually tickled by millions of children around the world but he has a new job now. In Omron's upcoming product offering, the cheery bug-eyed beast controls the television. Fitted with soft-touch keys and sporting a non-ergonomic design, the Elmo Remote control looks like a toy or a big piece of hard candy. Elmo syncs up with televisions by emitting an infra-red key so that the receiver (the television) accepts 36kHz control signals from the transmitter (Elmo remote).

Two Elmo versions are available for preorder - Elmo holding a pink heart and Elmo holding an orange heart. Both versions serve the same function however and run on two AA batteries (not included). Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late July 2007 at US$15 each.
