   The 2D platformer is dead. Long live the 2D platformer. Marvelous eschews the allure of 3D and does 2D proud with an action game that's packed with lush hand drawn visuals and fast-paced swordplay. A dainty kunoichi heroine dubbed Momohime and a dashing ninja hero named Kisuke star in this 2D side scrolling hack 'n slasher which takes place in olde Japan. Not post-war Japan but way further back when weapons called "Demon Blades" were actually bandied about. Enemy underlings and magnificent end-level bosses such as a club-wielding demon, a giant samurai, and a massive millipede that stretches across multiple screens serve as the opposition.

   Upon starting a game, players may choose either Momohime or Kisuke from a simple selection screen that lists their names but not their portraits. We chose Momohime (left selection) because kunoichi are much cooler than ninja. Kunoichi are also more presentable at cocktail parties. At the outset, a simple tutorial teaches players the basic moves where the "A" button attacks and pushing up on the analog thumbstick makes the hero jump. An impressive assortment of moves is available including a rolling slash and a dashing aerial attack where the kunoichi's entire body serves as the weapon. When performing the aerial dash, a total of three sequential attacks may be made before the game engine resets and calls time out.

   The Playstation Vita rendition of Oboro Muramasa features newly recorded character voices and DLC scenarios. Marvelous is including a bonus Oboro Muramasa Soundtrack CD with preorders in 50% ratio.

Sale Synopsis
    New Momohime 1/6 scale figure from Alter but her head's loose and doesn't appear to have been glued properly to her neck at the factory during the manufacturing process. The bottom of the head plugs into the neck socket and a simple application of glue should make her as good as new. Please note the packaging has been opened to check the other parts of the figure and everything else is intact. Sale price: US$90 + shipping.

Momohime had style, speed, and deft sword handling skills which she used to chop down flighty ninja foes. Kisuke was cool too but Momohime cut a more presentable silhouette. 

   Alter pays homage to Momohime with a pretty 1/6 scale figure which measures 21cm or 8.26" tall. Momo's color scheme mixes pink and blue with two stalks of fuchsia which cover her lower legs. We're somewhat leery of the one-foot-pose because some of our Alter figures on display have a tendency to lean and falter to the effects of gravity. To prevent leaning, our Momohime figure might be supported by clear-plastic braces if we decide to display her on office shelving.

Wii Oboro Muramasa Fanfold Poster - Bonus Sale Offer

«©NCSX» Brand new and factory sealed Oboro Muramasa Fanfold Poster which was only released in Japan as an official bonus to be included with the Oboro Muramasa game for the Wii. NCS was able to purchase surplus inventory from vendors in Japan which we are offering for general sale.

The poster measures 38 x 21.59cm or roughly 15.00 x 8.50" in area. The front of the poster mirrors the image found on the cover of the Japanese Wii game and features the heroes Momohime and Kisuke with weapons drawn. The "fanfold" in the product title refers to the fact that the poster unfolds into seven additional pages. Once unfurled, the total of eight pages create a mural-like effect for a massive display of Oboro Muramasa artwork that'll cover a wall or table area with 68" of wingspan. The front pages feature the good guys and supporting characters from the game while the flipside of the pages contain the entire assemblage of enemies and bosses from Muramasa. The later pages from the flipside includes smaller images of the heroes and supporting characters along with 24 screenshots taken from the stages in the game.

A number of cursed blades exist throughout the world. Blades that thirst for blood the moment they're drawn. Even those blades thought to be holy slowly become corrupted over time as they are used in hatred and drenched in blood. Those who wield these blades slowly become homicidal. The curses laid on these blades are said to condemn those who use them to tragic and untimely deaths. It is in the Genroki era, a period of time in which the shogun Tsumayoshi Tokogawa reigned, that the force of the damned began to emerge, threatening the peace and prosperity that had long existed in the world. The cursed blades became the focus of the greed, self-righteousness, and arrogance of those who'd gain possession of them, and inevitably it was these conflicting desires that led to war.
