«©NCSX» Reservations are welcome for a pair of plush hats by Banpresto which were worn by Chopper and Portgas D. Ace in the One Piece manga / anime serial by Eiichiro Oda. The hats are 'free size' in that they'll accommodate most heads and are being distributed in Japan to amusement centers where they're used in UFO catcher machines or as redemption prizes.  «©NCSX» Have you ever stared at Mr. Toad in the Mario games and mumbled to yourself, "I look better than him, why am I not beloved by gamers the world over?" If so, your time for adoration in the hinterlands of the internet might be drawing near. Banpresto's 'Mushroom Hat Narikiri' is a 35cm or 13.77" diameter mushroom plush which plops atop the wearer's head and instantly transforms him or her into a Mr. Toad clone. The hat is described as 'free size' which means it'll fit on the heads of most people thanks to a stretchable band which clutches around a person's forehead like a hair net. A choice of red or green is available for purchase.

    The Mushroom Hat Narikiri won't be released in time for this year's Halloween festivities but it could factor large in the 2012 Halloween holiday. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late November 2011 at US$48.90 each. Pac-Man Hat - Restock Import, Shipping Today

«©NCSX» When faced with an emotionally disturbed individual on the streets of any bustling city, one may simply hustle across the street to bypass a potentially unpleasant encounter.

When faced with an emotionally disturbed individual (please direct your attention to the gentleman on the lower-left)... who just happens to be wearing a Pac-Man hat, one may be too mesmerized by the spectacle to do much. With your mouth agape and feet frozen by wonderment, the fates would have to excuse your momentarily loss of the flee instinct. However, NCS recommends the following actions:

1) Smile. If the individual has been enraged by some invisible slight prior to your timely engagement, your smile may placate its temperament.

2) Slowly move away. Put your back against a wall if possible. Any sudden movement may be seen as an insult/slight that's not so invisible.

3) Find a member of law enforcement and confirm with him or her that you're both seeing the same thing. At this point, the officer may mosey up to the Pac-Man-Hat-Wearer to affirm that everything is okay and that it's all just a little Halloween-ish delirium. In the middle of spring/summer...

All backorders for the Pac-Man Hat are shipping today. Measuring a swarthy 12 x 12 x 8" in size, the hat is made of a plushy material and a retainer is located inside the inner "lips" of Pac-Man for stability and shape. The opening where one pokes his/her head through is stretchy to accommodate medium sized noggins as well as melon-like ones.

Pumpkin Family Katyusya - New Import, In Stock

Marusou's pumpkin hairpiece is a few days too late for Halloween but there's always next year. Looking it over this morning, we're fairly certain that school kids with some fuzzy wire and mini pumpkins can make the same thing without paying Marusou's price.

The part that goes over the wearer's head is an Alice band and the three plushy pumpkins on top of it are tethered by way of fuzzy green wire which coils around the Alice band. The size of the pumpkins is different with the largest one positioned right in the middle. The band is flexible and will fit most heads... unless you're a sea monster of some sort. The material used to make the Pumpkin Family Katyusya is cotton and polyester. Pricing is set at US$12.50 and new orders are welcome to ship today.

Witch Hat Katyusya - New Import, In Stock

Become the center of attention at the next Halloween office party by wearing a shiny black witch's hat which is fitted with an orange band. Okay.... maybe you won't be the center of attention but you'll draw at least a few stares and maybe a smattering of catcalls. The hat is also a simple prop that won't require any prep time or fuss to wear.

The witch hat measures approximately 15cm or 6" in height is made of polyester. Similar to the Pumpkin Family Katyusya, the witch hat is attached to an Alice band which clamps down on the wearer's skull securely. Hats have the unique ability to change the character of an individual once worn. Michael Jackson became a Smooth Criminal when he donned a white hat and he was suddenly Dangerous upon wearing a black hat. To change your own character, poke your melon-like head through the 38cm (14.96") Chax GP hat and become the object of ridicule and scorn in any metropolitan city in the world. If you decide to wear the Chax GP hat in the boondocks, you might be mistaken for a monster. Sort of like Bigfoot except with smaller feet and bigger eyes. Evangelion Angel Headwear

Over the past decade or so, the regularity of Evangelion merchandise was something that we took for granted. Every month or so, toys, towels, bedsheets, matryoshka dolls, and other miscellany would reach the market and fans would eat it all up. A new Evangelion movie is scheduled to bow this summer in Japan and it's only fitting that another flood of merchandise reach market henceforth. Japanese manufacturer Plex starts things off with officially licensed hats that are based on three Angels from the Evangelion mythos.

The Third Angel named Sachiel faced off against Shinji but eventually self-destructed. The Sachiel hat (left) features the doleful image of the Angel dead-center and two appendages on the side that look like Sachiel's shoulders. The fabric that drops from the sides is meant to represent its droopy arms.

On the upper right, we have the Zeruel Hat which is based on the Fourteenth Angel. The skull face is there along with its beam-weapon port which packs a wallop.

Looking towards the lower right, the orange-colored Sahaquiel hat represents the Tenth Angel. Although Sahaquiel has three eyes in the animation series, we only spy one of them...
