«©NCSX» European shooter fans are looking forward to Rising Star’s localization of the Cave shooter “DoDonPachi Resurrection” aka “DoDonPachi Dai Fukkatsu” this winter but North American gamers are also invited to play because the game will be partially region-free. The game will boot fine on North American Xbox 360 consoles but is incompatible with Japanese Xbox 360s.

   According to Yen Hau of Rising Star games, the European version of DDPDF will be the 1.5 version of the game. From an interview with Electronic Theater, Hau said, “We will be releasing the final version of Dodonpachi Resurrection in one Deluxe package. This includes the final Version 1.5 and both Arrange modes which were included in the Japanese release. The Black Label Arrange mode and updated Version 1.51 will be available as [downloadable content] over Xbox LIVE. We will also include the official soundtrack in the pack, just as we did with Deathsmiles.”

«©NCSX» DDP Daifukkutsu starts innocently enough. A massive metallic-blue carrier enters a portal and exits elsewhere in the blink of an eye. The carrier zooms into the new locale trailing pink thrust and releases a single ship. That little ship in a one-man wrecking crew that's been sent into enemy territory to dismantle everything in its way with buckshot, lasers, and bombs. Fire may be concentrated into a single powerful shot or scattered so that the shots pepper outwards in a wide arc.

   The first stage starts over water where enemy copters swoop in to attack followed by enemy squadrons. After a short time over water, the battle commences over land where enemy ground armor gives offensive support to the aerial attackers. Twitch through the morass and you'll get to face an end-level boss which transforms from ship to humanoid robot. Throughout the stage, bullets fly through the air which can best be described as crossfire. In addition to the Arcade Mode of the game, two special Arrange Modes may be enjoyed by Xbox 360 shmup lovers. 

 

Controls
A button - Shoot. Hold down to fire concentrated laser
B button - If using Bomb Style, unleashes a bomb. If using Power Style, toggles shots
C button - Auto-fire without laser
D button - Trigger the hyper counter

   Reservations are welcome for Cave's swan song on the Xbox 360, 'DoDonPachi: SaiDaiouJou Kan,' which marks the publisher's final game for Microsoft's 64-bit console. New to the home release of DDPS is a 16:9 vertical arrange mode, a spanking new animated introduction sequence, and a 3-player cooperative mode.

   The limited edition of the game includes an Arrange Soundtrack CD, a steelbook case, and an 80-page illustrations booklet.

X360 Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Preorders are welcome for the X360 port of Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label which originally reached Japanese arcades in January of this year. What does the "Black Label" version of the game feature that the previous 1.5 release didn't? For starters:

» The capacity to unleash vulcan shots and lasers at the same time. A new "Red Mode" in Black Label adds an energy bar on the top of the screen which tracks the simultaneous usage of the vulcan and laser. Use both weapons too much and the bar changes to a red color which ramps up the difficulty level of the game. Stop shooting both weapons at the same time and the difficulty ramp eventually subsides.
» Updated ship selection process where players choose the fighter followed by the choice of bomb-type, power-type, or strong-style (easy, medium, hard) and then opt-in or out for auto-bomb.
» The music in Black Label has been replaced entirely with tracks by Manabu Namiki, Yoshimi Kudo, Noriyuki Kamikura, and Azusa Chiba which are pretty sweet ear candy.
» The onslaught from the final boss Hibachi's attack is ferocious and magnificent and much tougher than 1.5.
