«©NCSX» Sea Otters are called "Rako" in Japan and the rodents compete with fishermen for seafood. Sure, a single otter can't consume as many snails, clams, and abalone as a hungry-ass human but a raft of 100 otters can. Maybe that's why fishermen gamely slaughter otters since that's one way to decimate the competition.

Sega's Caltoy UJ Rako Plush features two otters which are positioned on their backs. On top of each otter's chest is a striped clam which each beast grasps like a nugget of gold. In nature, otters use rocks to pound shellfish open to get at the gooey innards. Each Caltoy otter measures a massive 24 x 52cm (9.45 x 20.47") which is a lot of imitation rodent. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late July 2010 at US$49.90 each.

«©NCSX» Sega's been messing around with every species of animal in their Caltoy line of plush toys but they've never bothered to craft a classic good 'ole teddy bear. That all changes this Spring when Sega ships the Caltoy Max Jumbo FuwaFuwa Bear Plush to the Japanese market. The bears will join Caltoy pigs, whales, turtles, hedgehogs, hippos, stingrays, and many others that have already been released in years past.
The bears are made of a plushy and comforting polyester material that's soft to the touch. The bear on the left side of the photo is probably a Grizzly Bear because he's brown and ornery. The one on the right is most likely from the Polar Bear clan because he's the color of dirty snow. Each bear measures 45cm (17.71") in height and is stitched into a seated and relaxed position. Reservations are welcome to ship in late May 2010.

Caltoy Buta (Pig) Keychain - Import Preorder

©NCSX» When NCS imported Sega's Caltoy big Pig plushes back in 2005, we were given a ~US$2300 UPS bill for shipping large toy swine from Japan to the USA. The boxes that held the plushes were the type used to house refrigerators and washing machines. Sega's next bunch of Caltoy pigs are markedly smaller and NCS is anticipating much more reasonable shipping costs when we import them later this year. The Caltoy pig keychains measure a mere 10 x 7cm (3.93 x 2.75") and are topped by a keychain. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late October 2009 at US$5.75 each.

Caltoy Kids Cute Size Kingyo Plush - Preorder

Sega's line-up of Caltoy animal plushes are usually large in size with recent releases measuring no less than 72cm or 28" in length. The Caltoy plushes are also sizable in stature as redemption prizes in Japanese amusement centers. Sega's Cute Size Caltoy plushes are smaller and are meant to serve a lower tier in the redemption prize arena. The upcoming Kingyo (Goldfish) plushes measure 15cm or 5.90" in length and four colors are available - aqua, red, pink, and black. We expect the red goldfish to sell particularly well when we offer them to local Asian vendors. Red is a sign of good luck and a deep red goldfish is doubly auspicious.

Caltoy UJ Kaba Plush Doll - Preorder

In Japan, the word for "hippopotamus" is "kaba" or "カバ" but shorten it to "ka" or "カ" and you have the word for mosquito. In other words, the character "バ" is the difference between a 3000 lb mammal and a flyweight insect. Hippos are the transitional link between sea creatures and land animals. They share a common ancestor with whales and maybe that explains their affinity with water. Sega's upcoming Caltoy UJ Kaba plush celebrates the hippo with pastel blue and gray colored toys which measure a prodigious 50cm in length. Stubby legs, rosy cheeks, and four teeth each are notable body features. Preorders ship in June 2008.

Caltoy Cute Size Kaba Plush Doll - Preorder

If the proper-sized Caltoy UJ Kaba plush is too much to handle, there is another option - the "cute size" Caltoy Kaba. Identical to their bigger plush brethren in every way except for size, the smaller hippos measure a mere 15cm or 5.90" in length. The hippos also possess the same toothy grin, the stubby appendages, and most importantly - the same beady eyes that pierce the souls of men like ebon lamps. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late June 2008 at US$9.00 per plush.

Caltoy Kids Cute Size Kujira Plush Doll - Preorder

The Caltoy whale plushes have been available from NCS since September 5, 2006 and sales have been satisfactory. Measuring a mighty 43cm (16.92") long and nearly as tall, the whales feature a round shape with a teardrop point that pinches off into the tail.

Sega follows up the original Caltoy whales with an encore which shrinks the whales down to a mere 15cm or 5.90" in length. Four color variants are available as follows: Navy Blue, Aqua Blue, Pink, and Gray. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late May 2008 at US$9.50 per plush.

Caltoy UJ Shachi Plush - Preorder

Sega's celebration of the animal kingdom continues in May when the company releases the Caltoy UJ Shachi (Orca) plush toy. With dimensions even larger than the Caltoy UJ Whale, the Shachi plush measures a staggering 70cm or 27.55" in length. That's over two feet of plush material. The Sega Toys solicitation doesn't mention the weight of each plush but we're guessing it'll weigh in at about 3 lbs. Two color styles are on offer: a standard black Orca plush and dark-blue Orca which looks regal. Preorders are welcome to ship in late May 2008 at US$49 per plush.

Caltoy UJ Mitsubachi & Tentoumushi Plush - Preorder

Sega takes leave of the animal kingdom for the latest Caltoy UJ plush and explores the world of insects. In fact, two of them are being inducted into the Caltoy UJ family in 2008. For the record, we want a praying mantis Caltoy plush sometime in 2009.
The first plush Caltoy insect plush is a rotund ladybug with six little legs and two antenna. The second Caltoy insect is a bee with banded body and floppy wings. Both insects have beady eyes and measure 43cm or 16.29" in length. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late March 2008.

Caltoy Polar Bear Plush

Sega's Caltoy brand goes back to the basics and announces a teddy bear. Measuring 33cm or 12.99" tall, the Caltoy Polar Bear wears a blue or pink scarf (to keep the cold at bay) and holds a little polar bear offspring close to its bosom. Similar to all other Caltoy animals, the bears possess beady eyes and near non-existent maws. Due to the dimensional weight for this item, NCS recommends only shipping with UPS Ground within the United States or USPS Airmail for our international customers. Pricing is set at US$49 per polar bear and preorders are welcome today.
