When the year 2002 came to a close, the 2001 vintage of the "Mother of all Fighting Games" was gifted upon DC owners to close out the year. Executed as well as previous Saturn and DC conversions, KOF 2001 plays faithfully to the Neo original with a couple of bonus modes. Beat the game in team mode and survival mode opens up. Battling through the ranks in single-player mode will unlock the puzzle mode where you play color block matching with horizontally sliding pieces. Link 4 blocks to fade them from the screen and simultaneously level up your power gauge. Once filled, players may execute attacks to drop additional blocks or otherwise wreak havoc on the opposing player.
