Players choose a clan from the period of the Tokugawa Dynasty and hack and slash through various missions in a bid to unite Japan under a single crest. Sengoku Musou 3 Empires includes a story mode which allows players to experience the drama and intrigue of the Warring States under the auspices of a clan of his choosing. A new move added to the game is the "Spirit Evade" maneuver where a protagonist presses the "X" button to break away from combination attacks.
