«©NCSX» Gashapon are those little capsule toys that are squeezed out of vending machines in Japan. Drop the yen into the machine, crank out the gashapon, and revel in the little toy that pops out. Bandai is a major peddler of gashapon toys in Japan. Bandai also happens to own one of the hottest properties in Japan. SD Gundam Gashapon Wars is the result of fusing the two national obsessions together into a tactical strategy game.
SD Gundam Gashapon Wars was originally released for the Gamecube in 2005 and Bandai ports the game over to the Wii to reach a new generation of players. The game features fairly standard tactical fare which units are marshaled on grid-laced battlefields. New maps are generated randomly upon which the 150+ Gundam mechs battle other mechs for supremacy. Although a single player may enjoy the game fully, GGW becomes a party when four players participate in the simulation. As mechs are beaten, they are added to an image gallery for viewing. In addition to the regular edition of the game, Bandai has also announced a limited edition which includes a black Classic Controller Pro. Preorders for both versions of the game are welcome to ship on June 24, 2010.
