PSP Furai no Shiren 3 Karakuri Yashiki - New Import

«©NCSX» Chunsoft's Fushigi no Dungeon (Mystery Dungeon) series has been around for a long time. The basic game engine has served as the foundation for a number of dungeon exploration games including Sega's Dramatic Dungeon Sakura Taisen and Pokemon Dungeon.

The latest release in the canonical series of Fushigi no Dungeon games features the familiar dungeon spelunking formula where movement is stutter-step and in sync with everything else in the game world. For example, when you make a move, any monsters in the room also make a move in time to every step you take. Every move you make. They're watching you. The dungeons contain 240 different monsters including big wasps, flower-like beasties, Pokemon look-alikes, and 30 bosses to contend against. New to the action is a network function where players may go online for cooperative dungeon running.

Shiren the Wanderer and his pet ermine "Koppa" return for another adventure in olde Japan. At the outset of the game, they wander into a town and have a drink at a bar. Shiren hears a story about a "Sleeping Princess" in Karakuri Mansion and resolves to investigate. Afterwards, a rendered introductory sequence plays which features the cast of the game and Koppa. The game proper starts in a town while lilting music plays in the background. Shiren walks around and is shadowed by his pet rodent. Walk to the east and he'll eventually spot four girls who are bouncing balls on the game in perfect sync. An old lady watches them play a couple of feet away in an idyllic scene that might be reminiscent of everyday life.

«©NCSX» A millennia before the events of the Tales of Destiny games, a comet crashed into the world and blasted dust and debris up into the sky which obscured the light and energy from the sun. A dark winter set in and the people toiled under the harsh cold. What the comet took away however, it also gave back in a roundabout way. The people found a mighty power source known as Lens in the remnants of the impact. By using Lens, they were able to build a floating city called Dycroft. The denizens of Dycroft eventually lorded over the surface dwellers with a weapon known as the Belcrant. However, the creators of the Belcrant eventually sided with the surface dwellers and rebelled against their former masters. While on the ground, the scientists created weapons known as Swordians which were living swords which helped the surface people topple Dycroft.

Eighteen years after the events of Tales of Destiny, a new hero rises to the fore. Born from the union of Stahn Aileron and Rutee Katrea, Kyle Dunamis is a young aspiring hero who is lives with his mother at the outset of the game. One day, Kyle and friends are out and about when they're attacked by slavering bear creatures. Kyle can't take them by himself and just when it looks like the reaper gains new souls, Loni Dunamis rushes in to save the day. Loni is like an older sibling to Kyle but he joined the Order of Atamoni a while ago. He has returned to Cresta in the nick of time. After Kyle and Loni destroy the two creatures, the two return home where Loni has a joyful reunion with Rutee.

Two handlers named Milhaust and Eugene witness the event and cry out for his majesty. Outside, the kingdom is under siege by scattered streams of Force that shatters windows, immolate some people and electrifies others. A speeding train is derailed and calamity is in the air. Inside the home of Veigue and Claire, the Force is also strong and Veigue finds his right arm under attack. As he writhes in pain, he sees something happen to Claire that makes him scream.
One year later, Veigue sits in a house full of ice shards and Claire is encased in a column of frost when two travelers enter...

Tales of Rebirth was originally released on the Playstation 2 in 2004 and Namco revives the game on the PSP. New features include:

NEWS AP: Nintendo chief unimpressed with Apple's iPad

Iwata also doesn't expect 3D video-gaming to catch on, although he welcomed 3D movies at theaters like James Cameron's hit "Avatar."

Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata is quoted as uttering the following regarding 3D gaming:

"I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home. How is that going to look to other people?"

Players are gesticulating wildly in front of their Wiis and this guy's worried about a pair of 3D glasses? If game designers were mindful about how playing games would look to other people, they would have never created Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Freaks, or the Nintendo Wii for that matter. Swinging at air with a Wii Remote in hand looks real natural, un-clownish, and non-goofy, right? Come to think of it, sitting solo in front of a television while twiddling a joystick looks great to other people too.

How does one impress other people then? Answer: Stop playing video games. Just don't do it. Just sit there and read a book. Reading makes you look smart. If you quote a snippet from the book, you might seem witty too.

NEWS General Updates

Split Shipment Two import shipments that were supposed to be delivered yesterday were delayed and have been rescheduled for next Monday. Please note that our remaining quantities of NDS Dragon Quest VI and PS3 Ar Tonelico 3 Sekai Shuuen no Hikigane wa Shoujo no Uta ga Hiku are packed in those laggard shipments along with a bunch of restock.

Senjou no Valkyria 2 Bonus We were able to purchase a batch of Senjou no Valkyria 2 "Document of Gallia" bonus discs from the Japanese aftermarket and we should receive them next week. Once they're in stock, we'll begin bundling them with new orders for SNV2 and also contact customers who purchased the game but didn't receive the bonus. We're now searching for surplus copies of the Ar Tonelico III bonus Visual Books in the aftermarket and we'll post an update if we're able to find them from Japanese vendors willing to share their allocation of the bonus.

Square Enix has been slowly remaking it's way through the Dragon Quest series and volume VI concludes the successful remake run on the Nintendo DS.

«©NCSX» Sisters are doing it for themselves in the Tenchu Kurenai game. Rikimaru has gone missing and its up to Ayame and a new gal named Rin to save the day. As the story goes, Rin's village has been destroyed by a rival clan and she vows vengeance upon her enemies. Rin encounters Ayame and mistakes her for a member of the murderous clan but the two eventually clear the air and resolve to work together. Rin goes on missions issued by Ogin who leads the Beniya assassin group. Similar to previous Tenchu adventures, the name of the game is stealth and stealth kills where Rin and Ayame gently waltz up to foes in order to slash throats, eviscerate, and disembowel folks. Ayame may perform various stealth kills such as the "Crossed Blades" where she shears a target's throat with crosscut action and "Twisted Fangs" where she plunges two blades deep into a foe. Rin also has a repertoire of stealth kills including "Sundered Prey" and "Twin Serpents" which are equally impressive to witness. During their travels, Ayame and Rin encounter guards, archers, samurai, and many others who attack with specific weapons and tactics. Dogs are also present on the grounds and they present a threat in that they will alert the guards to Ayame's presence when she's skulking around.

The new Tenchu borrows a feature from games such as Manhunt and Splinter Cell where the girls kill, carry, and then hide bodies to keep them from view. A dead body in the middle of the village tends to draw suspicion and unfavorable reactions from the locals...

TOYS Onegai Teacher Mizuho Kazami 1/4 Scale - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» The peoples of Earth are still in a child-like state when viewed from the lofty perch of the Galactic Federation. In order to observe the follies and foibles of humanity at close-range, an emissary is sent to live amongst everyday citizens and intervene when necessary. In the case of Onegai Teacher, that emissary is named Mizuho Kazami who's not only a ginger but curvaceous and buxom to boot.
A few recent toy incarnations of Mizuho Kazami have allowed the half-alien hybrid to let her hair down but in the upcoming FREEing version of Mizuho, she reverts to her schoolmarm persona. The kind that bunches her hair up, wears a prim white blouse (which is strategically unbuttoned), and handles a pointer. Mizuho also wears fishnet stockings and crosses her legs in a compelling manner while seated upon a student's desk. Miz is sculpted to 1/4 scale and measures 40cm tall. Preorders ship in June 2010.

TOYS Mari Makinami Illustrious 1/6 Scale Figure - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» It's been a while since we counted but in 2006, NCS had at least 100 different Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley toys in our private collection. From Aphrodite to Santa Claus, the two EVA girls have pretty much seen it all. Mari Makinami is the latest addition to the Evangelion girl coterie and she's going to have to play catch up to match the quantity of Rei and Asuka toys that are already in the wild. Kotobukiya gives Mari a hand with a new figure which is sculpted to 1/6 scale and measures 24cm or 9.44" tall.

NCS is hard-pressed to describe the pose that Mari adopts in her upcoming figure. She's leaning forward with her knees bent on top of a piece of mecha and she looks backwards as if modeling. Is she waiting for something? No one knows. Her haunches are remarkably thick and her posterior displays evident cleavage. Repeat: cleavage. Mari wears a pair of red-rimmed glasses which may be removed to reveal her baby blue eyes. Preorders are welcome to ship in May 2010 at JPY7800 or US$89.90.

GEAR Leiji Matsumoto Romantic Collection Watch - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» The worlds envisioned by Leiji Matsumoto in his Galaxy Expresss 999 and Captain Harlock properties have taken readers and viewers on sweeping adventures that spanned the cosmos. Ever see a non-aerodynamic old school locomotive trailed by box cars thrusting through outer space? That's Leiji's vision at work in Galaxy Express where he chronicled the adventures of Maetel and a lad named Tetsuro as they visited different worlds and encountered various personalities and drama.

Leiji hit his 72nd birthday earlier this week (January 25) but he's still an active creator and one of his latest creations is the result of a collaboration with watch designer Seahope. The Leiji Matsumoto Romantic Collection Watch sort of looks like a nautical device that might be used by offworld submariners to locate sunken loot. Or something like that. The face of the LED watch features a hodgepodge of lines, a dial, and a gauge which may seem indistinct and muddled at first glance. However, if you look at the perimeter of the face, you'll see quadrants have been demarcated with lines along with more minute lines which delineate the seconds. If that sounds confusing, wait until you see a Movado watch. They don't even have numbers. Two smaller gauges may be found below the face.

The body of the watch is constructed of a scratch-resistant aluminum alloy and is available in either Silver or Gunmetal. Every watch is serially numbered on the back plating which is also etched with the visage of the Jolly Roger. Preorders are welcome to ship in late February 2010.

TOYS Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 4 Lily Chihiro - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» In the Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 4 game from the summer of 2008, a high school student named Ashihara Chihiro is teleported to a world called Toyoashihara where she has an important job to do.
One of the things that Chihiro wears in the game is a pearlescent hair ribbon that's decorated with blue lilies. Cospa takes inspiration from the game and designs a shiny hair accessory that can be used to tie up one's tresses or failing that, be worn as a wrist accessory. NCS is fairly certain that it can also be used as a headband. The "Lily Chihiro" is made of 100% polyester and preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late March 2010 at JPY1000 or US$14.90 from NCS.

NEWS General Updates

PSP Fate Extra [Regular and Limited Editions] Delayed Publisher Marvelous has pushed the release date for Fate Extra from March 18, 2010 to an unspecified date in 2010. All preorders will be kept on reservation and we'll post another update once the new ship date is announced. Preorders are welcome for both versions of the game.

Server felled by a CR2032 battery One of our servers rebooted during the twilight hours of Tuesday morning but didn't come back up. We tried rebooting it remotely. Thrice. When that didn't work, a visit to the co-location center located downtown was necessary. The server looked okay and the lights were on but when it was hooked up to a terminal, the system wouldn't reboot into normal services because the little CR2032 battery had croaked. Gave up the ghost. Dead as dirt. Guess we should've changed it after 10 years. The server needed the time and date to be entered and saved before rebooting properly. Of course, no one has CR2032 batteries when you need them the most but after a 20-minute boy scout trek to Chinatown, we popped in the new CR2032 (cost: $1.25, no tax) and the server saved the time, date, and CMOS settings and rebooted normally with all services intact.

OST Akumajou Dracula Best Music Collection Box Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Sega's Border Break was a RingEDGE coin-op which featured mech-vs-mech combat action on expansive battlefields. We've already stocked one Border Break related product in the Video Game Robotics toys which included a Blast Runner Assault Armament Type I figure.
The next Border Break product is a carrying pouch which measures 10 x 6cm and is designed to hold cell phones and other small objects. The game logo runs along the left side of the pouch while the words "Support," "Snipe," "Heavy," and "Assault" which refers to the types of robots in Border Break may be found along the bottom.

«©NCSX» NCS started preorders for the regular edition of Dead or Alive Paradise and the special Himitsu Box Edition two weeks ago but we open up reservations for the Dead or Alive Paradise [Kasumi Special Figure Box] today. The second special edition of DOA Paradise includes an exclusive Kasumi figure as shown in the product photo. Kasumi is sculpted to 1/6 scale and measures 195mm or 6.76" in length. She appears to be lounging and dips her right foot into some water that's made of PVC. The figure will not be sold in any other capacity and is limited to the Dead or Alive Paradise [Kasumi Special Figure Box]. «©NCSX» A few years ago, NCS stocked a Star Wars Light Saber Umbrella from Happinet that can best be described as a "big ass umbrella" which featured an image of Darth Vader. When May 2010 rolls around, Taito will release another Star Wars umbrella which is the telescoping type. In its native form, the umbrella measures a mere 30cm (11.81") in length but press a single button and the umbrella shoots upwards and outwards in a rain-shielding polyester bloom that measures 95cm or 37.40" in diameter. Three images are printed onto the fabric of the umbrella: the Death Star, an X-Wing Fighter, and the Millennium Falcon. Preorders ship in May 2010.

«©NCSX» Cats and frogs don't mix. We know this because frogs live in ponds and laze upon lily pads while felines generally don't hang around large bodies of water. Despite the differences, Eikoh stitches Hello Kitty into a frog costume. Not one frog costume. Four frog costumes. From the left of the product photo and moving right, the colors are: lime green, aqua blue, pastel pink, and violet. Just violet. Each plush measures 16cm or 6.29" tall and roughly 9cm or 3.54" in width. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late May 2010 at JPY800 or US$13.90 each from NCS.
