«©NCSX» Originally released for the Playstation 2 in 2005, Capcom ports Monster Hunter G to the Nintendo Wii this week. Players take on the role of an adventurer who ventures into the wilderness to butcher dinosaurs, monsters, and other creatures. The Wii conversion of the game features new monsters and monster variants, a new quest mode, and four player cooperative online play.
Upon starting the game, players choose from a male or female character and outfit the new champion in various types of armor, helmets, manacles and other accoutrements to individualize every hero. The weapons are outlandishly big and an assortment of spears and swords may be hefted for killing forays. The option to carry a weapon in each hand is also possible for double slashing action. When attacking jumpy and excitable beasts, a player may be overcome if the monsters decide to attack en masse but sweeping berserker attacks may be pulled off to fend them off. Larger monsters tend to move slowly and provide a massive and stationary meat target for the most part. Then there are the winged wyverns which swoop in for the kill with an aerial dive. Four players can link up online for cooperative play. The first printing of the game includes a playable preview of Monster Hunter 3-tri and a bonus Monster Hunter Hunting Promo Card.
