«©NCSX» Japanese manufacturer Gift teams up with Good Smile Company to release a visually striking Saber figure which is dressed in a poofy dress and shining armor. The visual contrast is basically the impression of hard metal on top and gossamer below. Satoshi Toda sculpted the Saber Gift figure to 1/8 scale which measures 18cm tall or 7.08" in height.
Upon opening up the package, Saber is encased in a plastic prison which keeps her secure. An extra Saber head which sports larger "anime-style" eyes is packaged with the figure - the default Saber head is painted with "normal-style" eyes that are more realistic. Saber's eyes are colored green and a sprig of blonde hair pokes out of the top of her head. The "sprig" hairstyle may also be seen on Naru Narusegawa of Love Hina fame and Kanu Unchou from Ikkitousen, among others. A mirrored base and Saber's sword are also included in the packaging. NCS' private Saber figure collection isn't as large as our Kanu Unchou collection but we think Saber will eventually catch up to Kanu in the number of figures released in Japan.

«©NCSX» Japanese manufacturer Gift joins the parade of toy purveyors who take a crack at immortalizing the heroine Yoko Ritona of Gurren Lagann game. In the upcoming Yoko rendition by sculptor Takayuki Kondou of G-Dome, the redheaded sniper looks somewhat cherubic with pudgy cheeks and big round eyes. Her outfit is less angelic and perhaps devilish with a bikini that sports a flame pattern. The black leather short shorts and studded belt are also questionable garb for an angel. Yoko is in a kneeling position and her hands indicate that she's sticking hairpins into her impressive mass of red hair.
Gift's Yoko Ritona figure is made of PVC and is set to 1/5 scale and measures 21cm or 8.26" in height. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late April 2009 at JPY9240 or US$108.90 from NCS.
