When they reach their target, a pumpkin-headed Bogeyman decides to dole out a nasty trick and summarily steals their souls. That...won't...do.

   Rushing to the rescue, little witch Ann and her demon sidekick Greg venture forth to rescue the children in this 3-D platform action game where Ann attacks with a flying hat and Greg pokes foes with a pitchfork and the occasional rippling wave of fire. Traipse around beautifully designed levels which showcase castle innards, dimly lit caverns and underground pools of fire.

    The Dreamcast no longer hold exclusivity to the Sonic franchise as the blue blur sprouts up on other consoles, following Sega's new decree for world domination. Playing and looking nigh identical (from our early impressions this morning) to the DC edition, Sonic Adventure 2 may be viewed as a faithful port with new appendages. The Battle in the Gamecube version of Sonic Adventure 2 refers to the new battle mode found in the game. Choose a character from the Sonic stable and pilot a chao mech into war against a similarly equipped foe. Other mini games in GC Sonic include competitive racing (a natural) and scavenger hunts.
 
    Another GC game bonus is the GBA exchange program. Ferret out a chao from the garden in Sonic Adventure 2 transfer it, via GC to GBA link cable, to Sonic Advance on your GBA. Once there, you can train the chao by feeding it, nurturing it, and chao eggs may be cultivated. These eggs are then transferred back to the Gamecube version of Sonic 2 where they'll hatch and grow according to how you raise them for the ultimate task of racing them against competitors.

   The action runs hot when up to four players battle it out in in fast moving and chaotic bouts. The speed may lead to instances of confusion where one can't discern the whereabouts of an onscreen hero when he's con mingled with everything else that's happening on screen. «©NCSX» Diverging only slightly from the style of the GBA Rockman EXE games, Arika culls the basic premise from those earlier games and expands on the action and world now found on the Gamecube. For much of the game, hero-boy runs across the screen and blasts foes with his trusty Rockbuster while leaping and dodging oncoming fire. For a little more offensive power, Battle chips may be equipped which serve out different types of hurt.

 

A real world counterpart has been added to complement the Net universe but players generally still look out for viruses and battle them. Cel-shaded graphics provide a bright and different view of Rockman but it all works well thanks to Arika's execution.

ASSTD Warehouse Removal Item #5 Four Console PC-Boards

«©NCSX» We once had free reign in the business of console mods but the world changed and NCS' daily trade went in another direction. Doing so many mods every week back then led to the procurement of a lot of surplus boards that we kept in stock for testing, hacking, and development. This product listing is for four console boards as follows (from the upper left of the photo and going clockwise):

1) Sony Playstation SCPH-100x console board
2) Gamecube console board with heat sink intact
3) Sega Saturn console board
4) Sega Dreamcast console board

   The Playstation and Dreamcast boards have chips attached but since they're evil, we're going to remove them and toss them into the bin before shipping the boards to our customer. You can however admire the modification handiwork, the color-coded wiring, and the clean solder connections in the photos. Please note that the boards are most likely non-working and they're priced accordingly at US$35.90 for the complete set of four which includes free shipping by UPS Ground within the continental United States. If they do work, then we've made a dumb mistake in pricing them too low. NCS is selling the console boards AS-IS. We have about 2 more weeks before we vacate the old warehouse and most of the inventory has been moved or sold.
