Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete Limited Ed.

«©NCSX» The original DVD version of FFVII Advent Children was released in September 2005 and NCS recalls the wonderment in the room as we watched Cloud and company emote, attack, and act with a realistic semblance of humanity. Square's story telling chops and CG renders had come a long way since the days of... Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Fast forward four years and we're treated to another rendition of the FFVII Advent Children movie but this version's special. It's got roughly 30 minutes of new/re-edited footage and the Blu-Ray video quality is stunning. You can see that every strand of Cloud's shabby chic blonde locks is rendered with both love and adoration by the designers.

FFVII AC Complete is a Japanese product and viewers may watch the movie in its original Japanese language track or toggle to the English language track. Please note that the subtitles are only available in Japanese. Square Enix also throws in a playable preview of Final Fantasy XIII (Japanese language only) for the Playstation 3 which is mastered on a separate Blu-Ray disc. Preorders are shipping today but new orders that were submitted yesterday after 8:30AM EST will ship tomorrow.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children "Cloud Black" PS3

«©NCSX» Sony hasn't gone overboard with Playstation 3 console variants in the past few years. We're attributing the scarcity of special editions to the relatively high price point of the console. This year however, Sony has already released three PS3 variants - the Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 Rise Dragon PS3, the Biohazard 4 Tricell PS3, and today's FFVII Cloud Black PS3. The third specially branded Playstation 3 for 2009 was released to Japanese retail last night and NCS is shipping them out to preorders this afternoon. The contents of the bundle are as follows:

» Playstation 3 160GB console decorated with the Cloudy Wolf symbol
» Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete Limited Edition Blu-Ray
» Final Fantasy XIII playable preview for Playstation 3
» Dual Shock 3 controller

The packaging for the bundle is decorated with a somber image of Cloud where he glares out into the world while the Buster Sword is slung over his shoulder. As mentioned in our bullet list above, t
he FFXIII "Cloud Black" Playstation 3 features a white ink etching of the Cloudy Wolf on the top shell - the Cloudy Wolf is Cloud Strife's personal symbol.

The version of FFVII Advent Children Complete that's included inside the "Cloud Black" package also sports a variant cover which features the same Cloudy Wolf etching that's featured on top of the PS3 console.

Most preorders for the Cloud Black PS3 bundle are shipping today but please note that some shipments are still in transit and are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. All remaining preorders will ship on Friday. Thanks.

Evangelion NERV Beach Sandals - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Summer's almost here and soon it'll be time to hit the beach. You could walk on the sand with your bare feet but why risk stepping on a sharp shell and potentially slicing your entire foot open like a ripe watermelon? Enter the Evangelion You Are (Not) Alone Movie NERV Beach Sandals from Cospa which are made of PVC and feature a conventional flip-flop design with the toe-thong. The manufacturer lists the size as "Free" which means the sandals will fit most feet. We hope.

Preorders are welcome to ship in early-mid June 2009 at JPY1500 or US$18.90 from NCS. Since the sandals are lightweight, we'd recommend shipping by USPS Media Mail to save on shipping costs.

HTB Mascot Character on-chan Nendoroid - Import Preorder

«©NCSX» Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Co created their cap-wearing mascot back in 1997 and we're guessing the designers found inspiration in baseball, the Michelin Man, and perhaps Pac-Man. The mascot's name is on-chan and he has a wide smile, short arms, and segmented legs. His little pet is a monster called Guchi. Before on-chan came along, HTB's mascot was a rascal named Kunta-kun but it was phased out after nearly 20 years of service. The On-Chan Nendoroid measures 12cm (4.72") tall and is constructed of PVC. The figure features a multiple points of articulation which allows it to be posed and configured in various stances. Preorders are welcome to ship in mid-late August 2009 at JPY2858. The production is by Orchid Seed with sculpting work by Masāki Kobayashi.

The title screen allows players to choose "Beginner" or "Expert" mode. Upon starting a new game, a short tutorial lists the various power-ups and their functions such as the "Speed-Up," "Ripple Laser," and "Multiple." The first three stages that may be enjoyed are as follows:

Stage 1: Bionic Germ - Fly through a fleshy biological battlefield and shoot up a brain that sprouts arms at the end of the level.

Stage 2: Meteorite Space - The screen goes vertical and the Vic Viper blasts away at enemies, avoids asteroids, and faces off against a boss that sports arms that whirl around like a slow moving windmill.

Stage 3: Burning Chaos -
Lava fields above and below are accompanied by arcs of fire that leap across the screen. Firebirds and other flitting enemies populate the stage. The end-level boss is a fire breathing dragon that's reminiscent of the protagonist from the SFC game Syvalion.
