«©NCSX» If you're in the market for a game based on an old school gumshoe, this one's for you. Raymond Chandler (1888-1959) created the Philip Marlowe character for Depression-era America and found a rapt audience through novels, comic books, films, and radio dramas. In the 80s, HBO revived Marlowe for a 11-episode run that saw Powers Boothe in the lead role.
Japanese publisher Furyu brings Philip Marlowe back for a Nintendo DS game which is based on the 1940 novel titled Farewell, My Lovely. In the story, a redhead named Velma Valento is the root of Marlowe's investigation who has taken on a secret identity to escape her past... which is literally looking for her. Furyu takes artistic license with their adaptation of the novel and throws in a few twists and turns to freshen up the source material.
As the game begins, Marlowe encounters a bruiser named Moose Malloy at a bar. Moose is looking for his old flame named Velma Valento but in the 8 years that he's been incarcerated, Velma has vamoosed her old haunts and is living another life. Through a conspiracy of events, Marlowe finds himself entangled in Moose and Velma's drama. Preorders ship on May 28, 2009.
