«©NCSX» We never pegged Suzumiya Haruhi as someone who'd play a game as mundane as mahjong but she's seated at the table and ready to roll. The members of the SOS Brigade join Suzumiya for a tile clattering experience where standard rules apply and raucous action erupts once the action starts. To add authenticity to the mahjong interplay, publisher Kadokawa tapped the talents of the voice actors from the animated series to provide the speech in the game.

   Reservations for the regular edition of the game and a Deluxe Pack have shipped yesterday. The DX Pack includes a bonus DVD, a mobile phone strap, and the exclusive Suzumiya Nendoroid seen to the right.

«©NCSX» The Saki manga and subsequent videogame contained a cast of mahjong-playing girl characters who were well-bosomed and generally attractive by conventional standards. NCS expected a Saki Miyanaga or Hisa Takei figure by now but we're going to be getting Nodoka Haramura aka Nodocchi instead. Prior to Nodocchi, two Saki heroines named Yuki Kataoka and Koromo Amae have been sculpted into PVC form.

Nodocchi is rendered in 1/8 scale and measures 29cm or 11.42" tall. The cups of her dress runneth over and a winding red sash billows behind her to provide some sort of accompaniment to her pink tresses. Since Nodocchi is an angel, a halo hovers over her head and a pair of wings stretch outwards behind her back. Nodocchi holds a lengthy spear in her right hand and her feet are mounted atop a clear circular base. Preorders are welcome to ship in late November 2010 at JPY7800 or US$96.90.

«©NCSX» In the Saki-Saki manga/animation series, a girl named Saki Miyanaga has perfected the art of breaking even (+/- zero score) on every mahjong game that she plays. Her unusual proclivity and luck leads her to the school mahjong club followed by the national mahjong tournament.
Join three heroines named Saki, Nodoka, and Yuki in bouts of PSP mahjong action. The girls are joined by fellow mahjong players including the glasses-wearing Mako, a waif with a deep-voice who answers to Hisa, a blonde named Touka, a younger blonde called Koromo, a girl with different-colored eyes named Mihoko, and many more.
Although the mahjong interplay is conventional and adheres to standard Japanese rules, the winning shots aren't the norm. Whenever a girl wins an MJ match, a photo of the winner or a nearly nude girl is shown on the screen as a sort of reward.

By playing mahjong against the girls, love may inexplicably blossom between the player and one lucky girl. By winning at MJ, love points are awarded to the protagonist which helps build the affinity with a particular maiden. Multiple endings may be accomplished which hinge on your level of love points. For players who need a little help during a match, pressing the "Y" button will summon Ms. Kyoka who'll give you a helpful hint.

New features in the NDS update include a Story Mode with animated sequences, a Tournament Mode, and a Free Play Mode. A new pink-tressed character also joins the cast of characters in the Story Mode.

Play mahjong against an assemblage of Japanese celebrities who have been digitized and caricatured into video game representations of themselves. Soul singer Akiko Wada appears dead-center on the cover of the game and she's joined by actress Ikue Sakakibara, actor Shiro Tsubuyaki, the duo Samaazu, the team of Supi Dowagon, Hori, and others. When playing mahjong, some of the personalities speak various lines and throw out voice snippets to add to the overall theatrics.

Standard Japanese MJ rules apply in the game but special moves may be used to change conditions and affect the other players. A Story Mode puts the participants in various roles and settings while the Communication Mode allows multiple players in the local area to play a game of MJ.

Kidou Gekidan Haro Ichiza Gundam MJ

Nineteen ebullient personalities from the Gundam franchise are rendered in chibi stature where they drop the mech gunplay and play rounds of mahjong against each other. When the little munchkins are engaged in MJ, they'll pipe up with little sayings and insults - Bandai boasts over 1000 voice samples that can play during a round. Upon starting the game, players choose a hero and then play the other characters through four unique scenarios. Since there are 19 characters and each one is featured in 4 dedicated scenarios, there's a total of 76 scenarios.

Gundam Mahjong supports the Wi-Fi function so players can challenge other players online for hearty rounds of Battle Mahjong. The initials of the top mahjong champs will be displayed on a national ranking list.
