Based on information received from Japanese distributors, NCS expects to start preorders for the Playstation Vita on October 15, 2011. Pricing is still tentative but will be based on how supplies in the distribution channel pan out; if supplies are scarce, gouging of the highest order is expected if history is any guide. As an example from 15 years ago, the Nintendo 64 was priced at US$589 with one game and US$689 with two games back in the summer of 1996. The Playstation Vita is scheduled for release in Japan on December 17, 2011.
