NCS Product Synopsis
«©NCSX» Mini-game collections were the rage a few years ago but the fervor has died down for the most part. When sales for mini-game collections slowed to a crawl in 2007, publishers retrenched from the genre and focused on more promising developments. Sony's new Minna no Sukkiri (Everybody's Revitalizing or Refreshing) attempts a mini revival with a selection of 12 mini-games from developer Clap Hanz that are well designed and enjoyable. Some of the challenges include:
» Homerun - Watch the orange-tinted pitcher like a hawk and press the "Triangle" button to smack homeruns or press the "Circle" button to hit red circular targets that are plastered across the outfield.
» Karate - We thought Mortal Kombat had been resurrected but it's just a highly animated warrior who punches and performs spin-kicks not at adversaries but on blocks of ice and innocent immobile objects.
» Pie Throwing - Hurl pies of different colors at assorted average citizens who pop out of windows to get their just desserts.
» Tractor - Overzealous farmer uses a tractor to destroy all opposition.
» Book - Make like a librarian and use one or two virtual hands to arrange disheveled volumes of manga in numerical order on a wooden shelf. When books are in sequential order, they can be maneuvered en masse.
» Boxing - Two pugilists face off in a brutal contest of power-punches.
» Race - Motor down the highway and overtake the other cars. Boosters allow your vehicle to speed up so much that it looks like a road meteor.
