All the way back on April 22, 1999, Sega released a game called "Cho Hatsumei Boy Kanipan" which featured a boy inventor and his invention which was a cantankerous and emotional robot. In addition to the DC game, Sega also released a special clear green VMS unit that contained a mini game starring a robot which needed guidance and support to become a better automaton.
