«©NCSX» Set squarely in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms (A.D. 220-280) world, the second Kessen focuses on the war between Liu Bei, founder of the Shu kingdom and Cao Cao, who leads the Wei empire. They're both on the game cover, along with the bewitching Diao Chan who is cast in the screenplay as Liu Bei's lover in this game. Scholars of the ROTK narrative may be offended by this relationship, which taints the ROTK tale, but they ain't seen nothin' yet.

 

   Similar to the first Kessen, armies of soldiers led by generals clash on battlefields to decide supremacy of one side over the other. Koei warps into a distorted fantasy version of "Romance" by introducing caricatures of generals who bear the names of historical figures but are empowered with elemental force. The great statesman and military strategist Zhuge Liang, for example, wields magical powers and uses them in campaigns against Cao Cao's forces. Liang was also known as "Hidden Dragon". The use of supernatural attacks tilt the tide of battle since legions of armies may be taken out by the summoning of a twister.

 

   Historical inaccuracies and hyper-physical manifestations aside, Kessen 2 reacts to a changing landscape by adding over the top visuals, massive "clear the field" attacks, and some semblance to a classic Chinese novel to spice up the tactical strategy genre.

 «©NCSX» In the original Kenka Banchou game from 2005, a pompadour-wearing hero named Yasuo battled rival hoodlums for renown and established a bad-ass repute at the expense of society at large. Despite Yasuo's thuggish leanings, he wasn't above helping grannies and other citizens with mundane tasks and errands. Yasuo exhibited a deep and resonant duality in that way. Spike went on to sell 157,000 copies of the game without much of an advertising budget or any name recognition.
 
    Fast forward two years and Yasuo's still around but no longer the hero. A young buck named Tomoya has entered the world and must earn his own badge of yankii honor. By using the mighty menchi beam to initiate encounters and fists to beat down packs of ruffians, the new protagonist slowly gains street cred, repute, and the adoration of lowly gangsters throughout the hood. Even though Yasuo sort of looked like Fonzie, he never had a motorcycle in the original game. Tomoya gets one immediately during the introductory training session of the game where certain actions are completed. When the game proper starts, Tomoya may pedal around on a bicycle but he'll eventually graduate to the throaty rumbles of his own motorcycle and raise hell by tearing through the streets.

 «©NCSX» School toughs strut, swagger, and punch... in that order, in Spike's cel-shaded 3-D action game where Japanese wannabe gangsters engage in a street spanning school vs school war. A big pompadour bolstered by copious amounts of hairspray and pomade gives the aspiring gang leader Yasuo a distinctive Arthur "Sit On It" Fonzarelli-esque profile. As the story goes, a new and powerful gang has begun to assert its power amongst the high schools in the area by way of brute force. Yasuo challenges the gang with a medley of over 100 attacks and special moves that range from punches, kicks, and even swinging hoods by their heels.
 
    The action runs smooth with beautifully animated squabbles that would almost be comical were it not for the game's already self-effacing demeanor that pokes at itself throughout the entire game. Every gangster shuffles down the street with a laid back manner that is amazing to witness. No one that is gainfully employed walks like that... The gangsters also dress up like Neo from the Matrix in yankii revival garb, except none of them have the skills that Neo possesses. Kids cower in the presence of higher level gang members while adults generally mind their own business and keep their chins up. As Yasuo increases the level of respect that he deserves, rival gangsters of lower stature will vamoose when they spot him moseying down the street.
 
    When fighting, an opponent may be knocked down to the ground and then continually kicked as he/she bounces around like a wooden husk. When it's time to flee instead of fight, Yasuo rushes forward, head down and arms slung behind him for optimal acceleration. If a thug gets too close, the hero may perform a backward kick to slow down the pursuer. Policemen roam the streets and will arrest any street fighters that they see. If arrested, Yasuo's street cred drops and he will have to rebuild his reputation.

TOYS Megami Device Collaboration Busou Shinki Type Devil Strarf [Preorder] US$78.98

   This is the third collaboration between Busou Shinki and Megami Device!

   The second character from Busou Shinki, TYPE DEVIL STRARF, will be released as a plastic model kit in Kotobukiya’s Megami Device style!

   This kit is based on the jet black, mechanical devil design by Humikane Shimada using current plastic model standards, all while paying maximum respect to previous models. The coloring and joint details have all been taken into consideration to produce an easy-to-assemble design that truly shows off the evolution of model kits.
 

   The “machinika” body, updated from MMS by Masaki Apsy himself, is a must-see. This model strikes an excellent balance with the existing Megami Device series by incorporating essential elements to recreate certain postures, such as a hip joint structure that allows the figure to sit while hugging her knees.

   As a bonus for long-time fans to enjoy, expansion joints with a diameter of 3.3mm are included, allowing for the use of parts from older items.

   (This may require some adjustment for certain Busou Shinki models. These parts should be adjusted by the user.)

 

Included Items & Features:

- As the parts configuration and joint features of this product are based on Megami Device specifications, many parts are interchangeable with those of existing Megami Device models.

- The body of this product is specifically designed to recreate the articulation of the previous MMS body, such as the hip joint that can be pulled out and uniaxial knee joints.

- Three pre-painted face parts designed by Amaai are included.

- The model can be constructed with her signature gear in “Armed Mode,” or without gear in “Unarmed Mode.”
